We have a claim near the Superstition Mountains and will be heading out to the mine when the weather gets a bit warmer.....hope we hit the mother load one of these days.

I use to pan for gold years ago up in the Santa Rita mountains. Never found a huge amount or anything but still fun none-the-less.

When my parents ran a pawn shop in LA, every Monday or Tuesday prospectors would come in with what they found the previous, weekend, month or year. LOL

We went and tried it, hard work doing it with a pan. Saw hobbyists doing it with machines. Was fun, but damned hot under the sun.

im not telling you guys my spot i go at least once a month.

I've been prospecting for around 8 years now. I have a half-mile of creek front on my diggins and 40 acres of benches. While the state outlawed my dredge two years ago, I still use electronic means (I'm high-tech), sluicing and good ol' fashioned panning, to recover gold there, in an area where tens of millions of dollars worth has been found.

Following the upcoming XBIZ LA event, I'll be out there most weekends, if anyone is in Norcal and isn't afraid of hard work...

what is the grand total you have made from doing it?

That Gold Rush Alaska tv show has a lot of interest for sure. So many stupid moves and lack of knowledge (apparently). Hey, lets just divert this pristine alaskan river, oops.. not allowed to do that. Hey, lets get some mentally unstable guy and then rely on him.. Oops. Hey, lets fly our families here to eat most of our food while contributing nothing but company. Oops.. Hey! We need to undo everything we've done so far to fix it.. oops.

A comedy of errors, but lots of prayers (for gold, lol) and people who are more willy nilly than the average bear. Still, a fun show to watch and it really does make you want to go look for gold.

It is amazing the amount of errors they have made. I was like WTF when they flew the families in... WTF were they thinking? If I were in their shoes families would of stayed home til we hit pay dirt and the bank accts were over flowing... lol

Stephen if I was on the west coast I would hit you up on that offer asap... :)

I'd love to go panning, and have been wanting to go around here as I live in old gold rush territory. problem with that is that every square inch of property out here is a staked claim already. :( There's lots of claims for sale, but I'm not going to drop a couple grand for one little claim that would amount to nothing more than hobby...

I just sold my 1.5 inch dredge and I am regretting it! :-(

I have a blue pan somewhere and some other stuff you use, used to do It when I was a kid. Good fun, found a decent nugget(3g) once when we were in the mountains.

This thread is useless without pics...so here are some pics of our mining claims....pretty much covers a 360 degree from one mountain to another.

Pics 1 is the road leading into the hills where the mine is located.

Pics 2 & 3 is a view of the hills that rest on the end of the claim.

Pic 4 & 5 is another a view of more hills the that rest on our claim.

Pics 6 & 7 is a far shot of the tail end of the claim, showing the corner stake of the claim and will be driving metal stakes to mark the claim boundaries next time out.

Pic 8 is the vertical Shaft located on the SW sector of the mine. It allows air to the horizontal tunnel below. The vertical shaft is about 85'-100' deep and it joins or drops into the horizontal tunnel.
