Super rare Ferrari 330 P3/4 and I've got pics!
I've been spending the last few days at Daytona International Speedway for the Rolex 24 and one of my favorite things about this event is you never know who or what might show up at the track and this time I was rewarded with a super rare 1967 Ferrari 330 P3/4.
It had actually won the rolex 24 back in 1997 finishing 1st overall as a Ferrari Factory entry and returned this year as part of a Rolex Heritage exhibition. There is only one Ferrari 330 P4 with it's original body and mechanics making chassis 0856 one of the most valuable cars in the world. This one is chassis 0846 owned by Jim Glicckenhaus and has had some work done to it to alter it's original configuration but is still very rare and worth several million. I was fortunate to be able to photograph the car and watch it take a few laps around the track and I must say it was simply amazing :) Here's a shot as the owner was taking it out to pit road to get ready for a few exhibition laps and gives a really good perspective as to just how low to the ground this car sits. http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_1.jpg Here's a look at the long-block Lampredi V12 engine with intakes mounted directly on the cam covers. http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_2.jpg Imagine the balls it took to drive this beast around the track back in 1967 http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_3.jpg Not much in the way of safety equipment back then for the driver. The owner has made several modifications like replacing the fuel cell, hoses, belts etc for a better and safer driving experience. http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_4.jpg He took it out on the track for a few laps and it was like going back in time but what really blew my mind was... http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_5.jpg ...... this car is street legal and has NY plates. :upsidedow http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_6.jpg I can just imagine him going through the gears in Manhattan. The sound would be awesome. http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_7.jpg This shot is for those that don't care about cars and got caught in this thread http://www.julie-clarke.com/public_h...s/F330P4_8.jpg |

I just found this video of the interview with the owner of this Ferrari 330 P3/4 just before he took it
out on the track. Listening to what he says gives you an insight as to how a true automotive enthusist feels. There isn't any of that " over compensating or midlife crisis " crap going on here. This man is in it for all the right reasons. |
Insane car!
