Rioters in Egypt are different than USA
I was watching the riot videos in Suez City, Egypt.
I noticed that the rioters were not breaking into stores and getting new TVs and tennis shoes even though the people are much poorer. I guess this says something about USA's rioters' real motives.:disgust |
I don't think it's a secret that the US is the king of consumerism.
|
We in the U.S. know how to get our loot on.

when its bad well i guess its actually bad :2 cents: |
Most riots swell in participant numbers purely for the stealing and anarchy of it all. Most probably don't even know the real reason for the unrest.
For example, it is well known that many football (er, soccer...) riots in Europe are influenced by groups not necessarily involved with the clubs that are apparently fighting. |
Did you notice that they weren't black? there you go.
|
they live in pyramids and have no electricity, correct? I am sure the chisel shops got hit pretty bad:2 cents:

Did you ever consider there are not that many shops selling consumer items like TVs?
Also the amount of video coverage coming out is very limited from what I see here. On BBC and Sky and CNN. |
you need al jazeera yo

What a dumb fucking thread.

thats because you might be hung from your toes in a dark wet cell for looting, no aclu there
|
|
the difference is..
the MAJORITY of the people of egypt are standing as 1 agaisnt the government...All the pepople in the country own those stores and buissness ..they are not going to ruin what little they have. if and when a MINORITY of people from Any country that feels they are being opressed by the Majority of the PEOPLE and Goverment they will loot and riot because they have nothing to lose and dont actually own anything so when they are breaking iinto stores and stealing TV and liqour they justify it by saying "how come they got and i dont".... I.E LA Riots ,new orleans. in egypt they are all in the same boat and focused on getting one thing achieved : Mubarack gone ! |

come on folks.. public opinion would be the prize in any sort of protest
why would protestors shoot themselves in the foot? hmm. |
In egypt they'll just cut off your hand if you loot and they are done with it.
In USA they'll give you a place to sleep, work out, 3 meals a day and friends to hang out wiht. I WONDER why! :1orglaugh |

And by the way, looting is inevitable in any country, when there is no police in place ... It has already started in Egypt. |
It's looting time! Bring your own pushcart ...

In this case..the looters a a very small group and not considered protesters..they are common thieves that are using this situation to try and take advantage of the lack of police presence....the people u see gathered in the majort protest areas are not banding together and looting and burning private or public buissness.:2 cents: |
This is the year of revolts. Might even spread to the US. One can only hope.

I think they have better crime deterrents there. Chopping off a hand is no big deal to them. Would be cruel and unusual here.
|
I'm embarrassed to say that Canadians are the biggest idiots when it comes to riots. Assholes went crazy when Montreal won a hockey game (3 games away from the cup). Assholes not only smashed windows and looted stores but they torched 17 police cars. Fucking assholes. And of course there was the summit last summer in Toronto where again, what could have been a peaceful productive protest again turned into rioting and looting.
|
|
Exactly, they are less consumeristic by like 1000%. In my time traveling in Egypt I found the average person to be very pious. You are safer walking the streets in most parts of Egypt as a tourist vs southern Italy.:2 cents:

what news have you been watching? there has been plenty of looting of consumer shit.
difference is that people are getting organized to self-police themselves now and stop any looting. |
Yeah, I think the OP made this one a little prematurely. :)
You gotta hand it to the Egyptians though. Talk about being organized & cordial about taking care of themselves like this. I don't think it'd go this smoothly in the US. |
Yeah, now there are reports of looting......

The extremist terrorist organization, The Muslim Brotherhood, are behind all this. They receive billions in funding from Iran and are affiliated with the Taliban, Hamas and Hezbolah. The areas targetted in Egypt where the mass raping of women and children and the looting, fires and killings are taking place are the Christian areas. The Muslim Brotherhood have called for all Christians to be chased out of the middle east or be killed. This is why Mubarak has withdrawn the police and sent in the military, because he is combating with a psychopathic terrorist muslim organization. It seems the wars the Americans are fighting in Afghanastan and Iraq against the terrorists have now spread to Egypt. I expect America will need to increase military aid to Egypt in the future to help Mubarak or otherwise we might find American and its allies being drawn into another war in the region against this growing terrorist threat.

Maybe the rioters in USA are more fat.

Usa is to foreign diplomacy/policy what an elephant is to a crystal store ..... |
I never understood why people who riot burn cars and break into local businesses. That's great that you want to bring McDonald's down, but by bringing down a local business and putting all of the people who worked there out of a job sort of defeats the purpose.

Here's just a snapshot of one man's pain: "Thieves raped my daughter in front of my eyes, without showing mercy," Said Mahmoud said in tears. "Unfortunately, thousands have exploited the situation in Egypt to break into houses. They steal everything; money, gold, clothes and even our underwear," he added. The horrific incident, Mahmoud said, happened on Friday. "I sat with family members in my house, when suddenly a group of people standing outside called us politely and asked us to open the door. We didn’t respond, and they said they would break down the door if we don’t comply. "My children started crying and begged me to call the police, but before I had time to do anything –they broke into the house," he recalled. "They tied my sons and undressed my daughter, and a few of them started raping her in front of my eyes. I couldn’t believe it was happening. I told them to take whatever they want and leave us alone, so they did, but also continued to rape her," he said. |
Because deep down people are still animals.
