Weehaaa, paypal has frozen my account

After being a member for nearly 3 years in perfect standing, using the same credit card/bank account and never a chargeback on any sales I put through the system. Paypal has decided I am not who I say I am and have to undergo an investigation, need to fax several documents and probably have to offer a few blood samples as well.

Not bitching =) I've always been prepared for something like this to happen due to all the paypal warnings I've gotten from people....just wanted to announce I have joined the millions of others who have been cornholed by paypal for doing nothing wrong. :winkwink:

Juicy D. Links 01-17-2003 03:34 PM

Nah, I had just under a grand in it. And no major transactions either. It was business as usual....ahhh well....hopefully this will be resolved in my lifetime.

My paypal account got froze yesterday after over a year... I spoke to representative on the phone who told me they flag sites where say 2 people are logged in at same time from different places in the world * just example... He also said they daily randomly pick sites to be reviewed.

I Faxed the required info, standard stuff as if u was opening a bank account. Passport photo, utility bill. Same day got email from paypal acknowledging the fax and saying I had to now change my password and security answers. Done this and now waiting for reply..

Now that is good service. Sure I am without paypal for a few days BUT they are doing this to protect themselves and to protect us.

You would soon be bitching if someone got into your account and sent $5000 of ur money to their bank account..

so :thumbsup for paypal from me.

Darren, you arent out of Paypal service for a few days, you are out of Paypal forever. Trust me on this, you'll never get your account back.

Jamie 01-17-2003 03:45 PM

That happened to us, it's really no big deal. Just fax in the info and things get turned back on.

Don't sweat it

It happened once to me ...

Paypal was very professional about it. Like you I threw them a flag and started using my card all over jersey getting motels rooms, sex toy shop stuff, electronics, etc etc etc if I was watching my card that weekend I would have flagged it too.

But a phone call and a fax and bam they had me reinstated.

Now I call them when I'm about to throw flags and haven't had a problem since.

Paypal = Top Notch for me :thumbsup

Bank of America did it 2 my ATM card a few years ago. I just went 2 my branch ask want happened, I had been getting cash (the max amount) every day for like 6 or 7 days and had never done that before, I also told'm don't do that any more, it's never happened again. So not it's not just Paypal. They all have a lot of AI and Fuzzy Logic in there software

iroc409 01-17-2003 04:21 PM

no, i've had pretty good luck with paypal, but their dispute resolution is a little sketchy. i could see where a lot of people could get scammed pretty easily through some of that crap. if you can't track it through a 3rd party, you pretty much have no defense.

lol... one of my friends got his account frozen with like $25-30g's in it :)

they are fairly careful, too. i've had the debit card yanked a few times. it was iinconvienient, but it just took a phonecall to get it running again.

There is no reason on God's green Earth I'd leave that much money in a Paypal account! I do a sweep into my bank account (which IS FDIC insured) whenever I get over a few hundred dollars, so if I do get frozen it's no big loss.

heheh... he had *just* gotten paid for something, and they nailed it like right on time, before he could withdraw it :)

Darin 01-17-2003 04:48 PM

Hmm no problems so far. (crossing fingers).

:warning

fletcher 01-17-2003 06:01 PM

I've heard WAY too many horror stories with them. I had a small amount (about $500) get sent to me....let it sit for about a week to "clear", then deposited it into my checking account. Over a month later, they said it was fraudulent and my account went into the negative numbers. So I e-mailed them and faxed them all the info and was told it was being looked into. Last week I got a collection notice. Fuck it, I paid it. Wasn't worth the hassle.

kios 01-17-2003 06:14 PM

Same thing happened to me. 2 years+ international business account without any chargeback. Faxed in the documents and a day later they opened my account again.

Cirrus 01-17-2003 07:06 PM

Not a big deal, after they review your account they will unlock it again.
