Forbes magazine did a survey last year of internet connections - they found that the majority of surfers in the US were still on 56k or less
They also looked for consumer trends and found that changing from dial-up to broadband was not high on most people's agendas and they forecast a slowdown in broadband connections in 2003. |

I heard stats about a year ago for canada that over 50% are on broadband (Broadband here starts at 1.5mbps, not gay ass speeds like in the US).

I read a stat somewhere (forgot where exactly) that said 18% to 24% of surfers are on broadband. Was within the last few months.

I have news for you......we're not charged by the gig. I get about 1.5Mbps down on my cable modem and have unlimited transfer. My cable ISP is AT&T broadband. And yeah current U.S. penetration is around 20 to 25 percent. |

this seems to be a little more complicated than it looks. focusing specifically on the member stats question, i would think this depends on the content you advertise to have inside the pay area. meaning, if you promote having a ton of video clips (more than images for example) you are sure to attract more broadband users. 56k'ers tend to shy away from paying for stuff that will take them a lifetime to download.
having broadband, i personally seek out sites with huge video databases, so the overall modem/broadband question will vary from site to site. :winkwink: |
