Ubuntu has been around and is awesome. I say ten years and Linux will dominate MAC and eventually take over.

Ubuntu IS awesome... But still, I prefer Win7.

Definitely not new, im using it right now, been using it for about 5 years. Its pretty cool, you get updates every single day, and its still a little buggy, but no viruses whatsoever

Windows 95 is the way to go.

Seriously though, Ubuntu has established its name in the Linux world and seems to be fairly respected. I don't know that I'd consider it on a production server yet, but for desktop, testing, etc., all good.

looked awesome when i installed it on my netbook. but there were issues with the wireless drivers i just could not work out :( It is a great desktop operating system though, I ran 8.0 for about a year.

no kidding, lol.. OS X = linux kernel. I ran ubuntu for years, I've ran countless other distributions of linux since age 12, and to be honest since Windows 7, I wouldn't even think about using linux on a desktop again. Software compatibility issues are the biggest thing, sure there is something to replace most things and sure there is WINE or virtualization but lets face it, using that shit sucks compared to the real deal.

Once again,useless due to apps not working there.Games too.

OS X is based on BSD which is Unix, not Linux.

I have not tried it. It's great that it's free. I'm sure many people will try it.

Linux is good for plain computers. By "plain" I mean a computer with 1 monitor, keyboard, mouse, ethernet card, disk drive, and a CD or DVD drive.

If you have printers, scanners, video capture, wacom tablet, dual monitor, wi-fi, Linux has problems with drivers. Those items rarely support Linux.

If you use more commercial software than open source, you wont like Linux. Most commercial software won't work on Linux.

I found this thing called Windows 3.1 and it has big icons on a desktop and it is the shit.

Never was and never will be. Mac OS X is based on Free BSD Unix.

Linux is not Unix, as its name says. And surely it's not BSD.

The only reason why I don't use Ubuntu, is that that I have to run PS and DW via Wine, and I don't like that! But, on my 2-3 years old machine, Ubuntu is superquick and a dream to work with. And I like speed!
