Apple Deny Uncensored Playboy App

Apple have upset teenage boys everywhere by denying a Playboy app before it even had a chance. Over the last few days reports were in regarding an up-and-coming iPlayboy app after Hugh Hefner himself had mentioned it on Twitter, but the upstanding folks at Apple have given it no chance of going ahead.
Playboy are rolling out a service to allow users to access the Playboy archives, in a move many commentators agree is too little too late to save the struggling Playboy empire. Part of this move is going to include a native app for iDevices, where users are allowed to view censored versions of Playboy publications. While this censored version seems OK with Apple, it seems Hugh had a more naughty version of the app in mind.
Hefner had said: ?Big news! Playboy ? both old & new ? will be available on iPad beginning in March. The iPad version of Playboy will include the whole magazine from the first issue to the latest and Playboy on iPad will be uncensored.?
Apple made a statement today that they will be sticking to their strict ?no nudes is good nudes? policy, and it seems no-one, Playboy and Hugh Hefner included, can do anything about it. While some people seem to be wondering why Apple changed their policy on nudity just for Playboy, it is probably way more likely that Hugh simply got it wrong in the first place.
Steve Jobs? attitude on nudity in the app store is well known, with his famous statement that ?Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone.? The line between censorship and choosing not to actively participate is blurry, and I will leave that one alone for the time being. However, I am quite sure that any teenage boys worth their salt will be able to look elsewhere on the Internet without having to rely on either Hugh Hefner or Steve Jobs. by geekwithlaptop.com
