I'm Just Curious. How Many of You...

...Actually use the GTalk, Yahoo IM among the others in your email box?

Every time I log into Yahoo email, there are 2-10 different IM's waiting for me from people I've never heard of. I have turned off the chat in my Gmail so it no longer launches upon sign in. I only use my Yahoo/ICQ IM's when I need to contact someone quickly, otherwise I have them closed or off.

This also includes social networks. I have the MySpace/Facebook Chat windows also turned off as well. I simply do not need to be that accessible to everyone.

What about yourself? You keep them all up all the time, or you have them disabled?

Depending on what it is, I agree with you.

When I have something very detail oriented, I prefer a 5-10 minute phone call over an entire day of going back and forth in email. I do not mind sending a final draft on terms or whatever. But up to that point. Much faster and less grief just picking up the phone.

Never bothered with the web versions embedded into the Webmail apps, but use GTalk on my Android phone all the time.

I have 3 instances of gtalk running actually.

I have it open on in my gmail tab to accept incoming google voice calls on my pc.

I have gtalk open in digsby for instant messaging

And I have it on my droid for on the go gtalk.

                          gtalk is great

Yahoo chat has too much spam

I prefer skype for chatting though

I use Gtalk and push my clients to use it... Then ICQ and Skype. Many of the IM clients today group all of them together, including facebook, twitter, email accounts, etc. Makes it rather easy to manage messages from all over.

And yeah, yahoo chats are 100% trash, I should turn them off as well.

just on WLM. I keep it up because of IT contacts who are nice to have handy in a pinch. All the rest I disable.
