pjotoshop question for designers.

How do you smooth the edges of a Stroke? Say I have a 5 pixel stroke around some text, and the outer edge looks a little rough. How do I smooth that rough edge? I guess I have to smooth the edge of the text first?

If you do a "flat" 5pixel stroke it will come up edgy,

i normally will add a few pixel stroke, then edge in a couple more layers on top and fade it (opacity) into the background so it appears less edgy. just takes some playing with.

also the stroke on layer properties appears "edgier" compared to selecting the layer and stroking a new layer.

use antialias in case you're not using it.
if you are, a good method then is to use outer-glow instead of a stroke, and set it to anti-alias

I just duplicated the layer, flattened the rear layer out and blur it. Seems to have done the trick. Was wondering if there was a legit way though, I'll try your methods and see which looks best. Thanks.
