Ok Let's talk Hair Loss!!!

Ok I'm thinning up in the jew cap area and although I've shaved my head before and look pretty good shaved ;-)

I'm wondering what product or treatment would be best to stop the thinning and start some growing again... Do they really exist? As anyone tried something that was successful for them?

Please share your thoughts or experience.

Thanks

Dwreck 01-19-2011 10:53 AM

I would like to know as well. I'm getting to that age...

MetaMan 01-19-2011 10:55 AM

Nioxin is really good for shampoo, they have different ones u can buy depending on your hair.

dont use a blow dryer

also mega man multi vitamins:
http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4033432

also hit the gym as it is a stress release, HUGE factor is stress.

Harmon 01-19-2011 10:56 AM

Rogaine will slow down the process and maybe grow some peach fuzz to fill in the balding area. propecia, crap. Toupee? Only if you want to look like a moron. Comb over, naaah. Plugs, there is always those. But umm: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_l2aJTt0wyA...antrepair1.jpg those can be a shot in that dark.

Go bald gracefully and proud, or shave your head. Your a man, man up :winkwink::thumbsup

MetaMan 01-19-2011 10:56 AM

http://www.amazon.com/Nioxin-System-...ef=pd_sim_bt_2

these 3, but you want to look through the different types.

LMAO I've been shaved most of the time, I'm just curious if there is something.

Metaman, I use to get nioxin when I was working with a hairdresser magazine back in the day. I'll have a look around to get some and try it again.

Thanks

I don't think Propecia works for the "jew cap area" balding. Check into it but I'm pretty sure it's effective with the thinning everywhere on top balding only. The one that leaves you with the horse shoe do.

webairalex 01-19-2011 11:27 AM

You can blow 4 to 12k on a hair transplant, they do work it does look natural unlike the plugs back in the day. They now implant follicle per follicle. For a natural supplement I go with procerin.

Let me share a little wisdom.

Losing your hair is a mental problem not a physical one.

Other than protecting your head from too much exposure to the sun it serves very little physical purpose. If you lose your hair the impact physically to your body is minimal.

For some the problem is how society treats baldness. It's odd how guys can shave their head bald and girls like that look but don't like a guy who is bald or in various stages just because he lost it instead of having the choice to shave it. It probably has to do with an outdated perception that baldness equals old age and loss of virility.

I'm bald my brother is bald and my dad was bald. I used to have long hair in the late 70s and the girls loved it. Then I cut it and then I started to lose it. it really bothered me. Then my Mother got cancer and had to do chemo. She lost her hair in the treatments but never complained. She held her head up high and went about her business. I thought how can I fell bad losing my hair when my Mother, a woman who's losing her hair accepts it and moves on. From that day on I vowed to never let my hair loss be an issue.

So what if some girls don't like it. That just makes them superficial and really not worth your time to begin with. Who cares what people like that think and it's a total waste of your time and money to worry about it. Why get hair plugs and medication and all that other stuff just to gain the appreciation of superficial people. It's just plain stupid and a product of your mental attitude. A bald guy with good game will out score a dumbass with movie star hair 99% of the time.

The sooner you realize and accept that baldness doesn't matter to those that matter the most, the sooner you can move on to a better life :)

NetHorse 01-19-2011 11:40 AM

Yeah, what he said. Just accept it and move on.

My little brother who is 4 years younger than me is almost completely bald, and my dad is nearly bald. I guess I'm very fortunate to still have all my hair, (although I do have a receding hair line as you can see in my avatar). Although I prefer to keep my hair, when I start losing it, I'm shaving my head and I won't give it a second thought.

For a couple years my brother used everything, as well as tried to cover it up with different hairstyles and products. He just looked like an idiot..:1orglaugh He finally shaved his head and moved on and it looks 10000X better.

yeah its a pretty vain thing to worry about i agree but its still hard. i've yet to lose but my father is very bald and i can only imagine its a matter of time. if the old wives tale is true i might luck out as my mothers side all still has their hair. i've had long hair all my life. its part of what people know me as. most have never seen me without it. i often wonder what i will look like without it or if peoples view of me will change. not like i really give a fuck what other think but every guy wants to be seen as attractive to the opposite sex.

Persius 01-19-2011 12:08 PM

Nioxin and what not doesn't necessarily grow the hair. It makes it fuller and can slow down the progression of hair loss. (i use this)

Have a good vitamin source of Biotin - promotes hair growth

PROPECIA was developed to treat mild to moderate male pattern hair loss on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head) in MEN ONLY. There is not sufficient evidence that PROPECIA works for receding hairlines at the temples. You also have to worry about lower sex drive and erection problems as some cases have them. In that case take a cialis lol if you need to start taking propecia.

FYI: Remember there is a shedding process of Nioxin where you will start loosing hair but it will grow out stronger strands. But in your case you said your shaved so if nething the chemicals will go directly into your root . perfect timing to see if it helps you.

scuba steve 01-19-2011 12:14 PM

losing hair sucks :(

CDSmith 01-19-2011 12:14 PM

I tried a few miracle cure thingies many years ago when my hair was just thining a bit. To this day I don't know if any of it really made a significant difference or not. Waste of money in my final opinion on it.

My advice: Go back to shaved. I went that route a couple of years ago and haven't looked back.

Sporting a nice goatee, a little 5 oclock shadow on the head, it's very liberating. :D

baddog 01-19-2011 12:15 PM

Woe is you guys.

CurrentlySober 01-19-2011 12:18 PM

If its just a small spot on the top, assuming you have brown hair, just rub some poo on it...

Instant coverup, and no one will get close enough to know for sure :thumbsup

If I was balding I would probably give it a shot. Since I am not and there are no signs that I ever will be bald, I will take your word for it.

Rochard 01-19-2011 01:52 PM

I went bald once. My mother in law was going through cancer and loosing her hair so I thought I'd support her. I looked like a fucking criminal.

ok so here is an interesting fact.. male pattern baldness is a step forward in the constant evolving human being.
in fact, the pre-historic man had no male pattern baldness whatsoever.

the wise ones claim that a man with baldness shows signs of maturity, respect, socialization skills and less threatening to potential mating partners.

Shaving my face in November was enough to convince me that a chrome dome is not my style.

grass doesn't grow on busy streets. started shaving my head in second year of university, 15 years ago. i was thinning 1st year university so i said fuck it, and it was the time of stone cold steve austin days, so i said why the hell not. i was on the skinny side back then so you can look sickly bald and thin, like tom hanks in Philadelphia.

Now i'm 240lbs and muscular, so the bald look they say suits me. Suits me? i had to deal with it. Don't let something small own you, you own it. Nothing sadder than a man trying to hide his baldness or thinning hair, a bald guy sees all the signs. I can see past the weird hair styles, the inappropriate wearing of hats all the time, the comb overs. The potions don't work, if you're lucky maybe you'll keep the hair you have left but at what cost? But to each their own. Come to the smooth side my child.

Respect, to my fellow bald brothers. May your scalps be shiny, smooth and honest. Amen.

~Ray 01-19-2011 02:57 PM

boot camp was as close to bald as I went.

I am losing hair now. I can feel an itch and when I touch it, the folicle feels like a sift pice of sand. I'm losing one at a time.

Correction... you ARE a retard.

i can tell you for a FACT that rogaine works in the jew cap region. it does not work on the male pattern baldness region.

get the rogaine mousse and use it every fucking day for the rest of your life and you will be totally happy with the results.

and also metaman's advices is totally right. 2x

Do not go near Propecia whatever, you will keep your hair, but it will fock you up! DHT is there for a reason and plays an important role in the body.

I could explain in great detail but haven't got time, just don't go near it! DHT tells your brain that you are a man and makes you act like a man, it's not something that should be blocked.

Minoxidil will help you keep your hair without causing the same problems

wehateporn 01-19-2011 04:14 PM

Baldness helps you gain Vit D and other important stuff from the Sun, it's there for a reason

totally understand. many moons ago, i started shaving because it was thinning, then i had the receding hair line which i call the Gulf of Mexico but eventually over the years the bald eroded the gulf and it's full blown horseshoe time. On the bright side i only have to shave two thirds :)

I saw a movie where someone supposedly had a cure for baldness. Unfortunately, the cure does not exist in real life. You can try to wear a wig. Good luck.

There is only three real options listed in order of effectiveness:

Saw Palmetto blocks dht.

Pros: cheap, has other health effects, US Indians used to think it was the most healing root in the world.

Cons: blocks dht at a low level and can take months or years to take effect.

Finesterine (propecia) blocks dht

Pros: It works to stop hair loss almost completely for most people. In some rare cases hair will grow back as well.

Cons: Expensive

Hair surgery

Pros: Most effective, uses hair where you do not need as much places where needed.

Cons: Really flipping expensive. Around $7k for a good company to do it.

As mentioned I've sold hundreds HT and would never recommend this to friends/family because hair loss is normal and taking Finasteride for the rest of your life is just stupid. Plus it's a never ending process because it takes a full 2 years for your new transplanted hair to grow in and by then your original hairline loss has also progressed. In short, it's just a matter of time before all your donor hair is gone and your neck hairline is above your ears. What the doctors won't mention is shock loss. When a doctor is punching holes in your scalp your good hair falls out and a 15% permanent damage loss is always factored in.

a friend showed me a pretty impressive youtube video of a hair transplant. you were probably selling the cheapo hair clinics. i bet there are hair transplants that celebs and the rich get that are better.

stem cell technology is what will cure baldness for men and women. women lose hair too.
