No this is a revaluation. They are hoping that if they invest xxx amount of money that the revaluation turns into x,xxx. It also could go the other way and they could lose money. Its a high risk investment. Someone said you're not even allowed to take Iraqi currency out of Iraq or something like that.

Maybe someone with more knowledge can explain it to you better.

They don't want to think they have made a shitty investment in a currency that might disappear.

I don't doubt that the profit potential be huge. It seems a lot like penny stock to me. The potential profit is large, but so is the risk. I just don't really understand what the story is there. I keep seeing a lot of mention regarding the Dinar here lately, and don't really understand what's behind it. Just looking for a brief explanation of the situation the has made it a desirable investment opportunity to so many. I have no intention of investing in it, but it's always good to have an idea what people are doing and what the idea behind it all is. Paying attention to these things can always pay off in the future.

hmmm let's see... a currency that should be near the $3 dollar mark, due to the country sitting on the worlds richest natural resources and thier GDP...yet has been locked away off forex due to IMF and UN sanctions... held at 1/10th of a US penny for no reason that has anything to due with economics... could RV any day...

Also - large risk? No. Near zero risk unless you get burned and buy counterfeit paper.

Something tells me that this will not rebound for some time to come.

in my opinoin..there will be a revaluation..yes..the iraqi dinar value will eventually rise agasint the us dollar..but..and this is a big butt.. i also think the physical currency itself will be "revalued" ..meaning those 25,000 dinar bills will actually be worth 250 dinars when the iraqi govenrment decides to drop the last 2 zeros off the end...just my opinoin.

maybe it dropped from $3 to pennies because of the double digit inflation rate for many years? It's not just the exchange rate, their whole economy is fucked... you can't just magically reverse years of double digit inflation rates... :2 cents:
