It's easy enough to block, but it amazes me how many different kinds of spam people try with wordpress stuff... everything from mom & pop shops to pharma crap. It must be working cause I've only seen an increase over the past year.

I started a new blog about 10 days ago. I have done zero link trades and am just pinging SE's for traffic. Askimet has already caught over 6,000 spam comments. Pretty freaking crazy

it would be great to have a plugin that processes spam comments, CHANGES THE LINK in the spam comment or maybe replaces the entire comment from a list of readymade comments.

personally i've gone in to various blogs and edited spam comments to make them ready for approval;)
i do this to 20 or so per blog, figure thats good for googley

but a plugin to do this would be great.

Nah, Xrumer has a hefty pricetag. Scrapebox made blog spam affordable to every Tom, Dick, and Harry online... :2 cents:
