looking for some opinions

just looking for some opinions not related to porn.

i've got a camaro project, that's been taking a long time to to. it's still a very long way (money wise) from completion. mostly i don't work on it right now because i don't have the shop space. but, the car is one of those cars i just don't really want to part with.

a good friend of mine recently offered to buy it from me, but doesn't really want to offer a ton of cash, apparently. he's been bugging me a lot. i really, really hate giving her up. he's recently made a new offer that is a lot more compelling.

he recently acquired a tubo mx-6 (around an 86) he says is in fairly decent shape, and respectably fast for a 2-liter car. my daily driver is an 89 b2200. if you've ever had one, it's "the little truck that couldn't" but gets amazing gas mileage and is very reliable.

the motors themselves are almost identical, but not compatible because mostly of the head and the placement of the distributor, however the turbo and FI theoretiaclly are pretty much the same. he's offering parts & install (running) into my truck, or a swap of parts to put the turbo on my truck. this would make it the "truck that could", boosting it probably at least 100hp stock-like. this wouldn't make it really fast, but probably enough taking the gearing into consideration to beat some imports and a few domestics. my original intent was for a turbo rotary, which has been documented to put them in the 9's in fairly stock trim. but, it would be a rather cheaper way to do it, and i could probably strike the deal with him painting the truck, if i bought the paint.

the truck only has 67k miles on it, and i'm sure the car has more, so i don't want the motor, just the turbo and FI stuff.

what would you do? just curious. it's a difficult decision. i have to have a camaro, but i figure it's not going to be incredibly difficult to find another IROC in 6 months or so.

dont part with your goods.
that's my advice.
several years ago i let go of my baby...a 92 corrado slc...so i could pay some bills.
i'll never forgive myself.

yeah... finding another one wouldn't be horribly difficult, but it just wouldn't be "that car", even if it's essentially the same. not the memories. why it's a hard decision :)

i've owned this one longer than any other. grr.

that, and if i fix it my ex said she'll swallow in it :Graucho

(she doesn't think i will)

i would just pass on the turbo in the truck. it's all up to you though yeah but if you use your truck as the daily driver then i wouldn't suggest it. you said the truck has only like 67 grand miles right...

that's good enough to just keep the truck running good forever. if you put the turbo on the truck you'll have maintain it ever more so often then you're used to.

but that's just my opinion. hope it helped.

yeah, thanks for the opinions. i think i'm gonna keep her, even if she is in pieces :)

the truck was a 1-owner, some old guy owned it and babied it. they'll run easily to 300k, 90% of those were beaten, too. :)
