All he has to do is sell 1/4 of his shares and he made his money back. So anything after that is gravy.

"Bono will be able to cash in his share once the privately-held site is floated on the stock exchange. "

What if Zuckerberg never floats it?

I just finished reading The Facebook Effect (an authorized account of Facebook by a Fortune writer).

Zuck now has the valuation where he'd IPO. He also has the structure setup so that he can do it for the cash and not lose control due to the board seats he controls and the share structure. That has all been in the works so that he could eventually do it. He has always been more concerned about control than cash.

maybe his charities will hit the 20% mark

Currently he has spent $195 million. Until he sells his shares, he is -$195 million. :)

There was also a little site called myspace that was supposed to be worth a lot. Now they are cutting staff and bleeding money.

who knows

Django 01-14-2011 10:37 AM

He will save the world with all this cash

dyna mo 01-14-2011 10:41 AM

i counted my shares up as cash in a social network pre-ipo back in 1999. that was a bad idea!

ottopottomouse 01-14-2011 11:55 AM

Sort of announcement that makes people who should never buy shares jump in too.

woj 01-14-2011 12:21 PM

Sounds like easy $$, but the other 9 start ups he invested in probably flopped... so when all is done, he probably came out even :thumbsup

Anyone with a stake in Facebook pre-IPO is going to be set for life.

I think Bono was set for life regardless.

If it is one thing i have learnt in business dont count the cash before it is in the bank.

In between shit can and will go wrong.
