Let's Discuss Finding New Girls In This Information Age

I wrote a reply to a post in another thread about finding new girls but it's long and I thought maybe it would be worthy of it's own thread. I'd like other's opinions on this if you don't mind.

Interesting. This is something I've been thinking about myself. When I started, only 3+ years ago, a girl could do, oh...I don't know, +10-15 scenes, make herself some money and none of her friends would have a clue what she's been doing as long as she kept her mouth shut. Heck, look at that Zoey Zane girl. I wasn't around then but if I understand correctly, she was a pretty big name in the industry and yet her family and friends had no clue.

Now, with tube sites demanding two to 50 minute videos, with bandwidth so cheap that a surfer is provided thousands of hours of free porn with just the click of the mouse and with the internet being a source of providing information internationally and fast, it seems more girls are getting outed. In my experience, new girls have become harder to find just over the last few months. Most likely a direct result of Craigslist pulling Adult Gigs and similar areas. Which leads me to believe that new girls are going to continue to become harder and harder to find as they begin to realize that they can no longer assume they will remain anonymous. Especially with their god-awful tattoos. :-)

Girl does porn, 5 min clip goes on tube site, old boyfriend or BFF finds it, posts link on his/her facebook profile, life as she knows it is over. :-(

Sure, there will be the Jim Gunn's of the world who will always have a fresh inflow of new girls. But IMHO, overall, it has and will continue to become more difficult and it concerns me.

Only once have I seen a girl's real name used in pushing her content and that upset me pretty badly. Granted, she was, and probably still is, a bitch. Regardless, no matter what a girl's done in adult, I think it's really really bad to reg her real name as a domain name and put her content or links to her content on it. Are we really that desperate for sales that we're trying to market her videos to 100 or so of her family and friends?

This girl now has a college degree and is in the workforce. To this day, I google this girl's real name every few months just to see what's going on. I can tell she's trying to get the links using her real name down as links occasionally go dead but still, that would just SUCK for a young girl trying to make it in the corporate world knowing anyone who googles her name can watch her do a li'l suck n fuck.

Ugh, I can get pretty long-winded when I want to. :-) Paul's statement just reminded me of what I've been thinking about lately so I thought I'd opine about it.

Has is been harder for you to find new girls? Do you think that Facebook and other social networking sites will make it harder to find new girls? Or perhaps easier? Should I give a shit if they get outed? Thoughts?

Machete_ 01-13-2011 10:07 AM

ok.

.....

Mutt 01-13-2011 10:13 AM

true, it was much easier to recruit girls for websites before the Internet became used by everybody - girls back then didn't have Internet access themselves, they thought it was some weird computer geek thing and nobody would ever see them.

we tell girls they're going to be found out, just a matter of how soon. and i'm not recruiting them for hardcore even. many girls are happy to model nude but not for a porn paysite, no matter if it's softcore.

on the other hand there are more girls these days for whom porn is no big deal, they watch porn themselves, and some really want to get into the industry and don't care who sees them.

BlackCrayon 01-13-2011 10:24 AM

do most girls even think that until its too late?

i would think with porn being more socially accepted than ever before it would be easier to find girls.

The Porn Nerd 01-13-2011 11:12 AM

To find girls I would do this:

Hire a girl, maybe two, to go around malls, shopping centers, downtown areas, parks, etc, and have them hand out your flyer to other cute girls and have them chat up the girls about you. Girls will always trust girls more! Pay the "recruiter" per hour or, better yet, $100 a girl she brings to you. :)

Your other points: I, too, worry about some of the issues you mentioned but, at the end of the day, these girls are ADULTS and they make their own decisions. Everything I do is 100% legal, the girls sign model releases and show their IDs. To have regrets later is normal - we ALL have regrets in life. Life Lessons can be hard to learn.

What pisses ME off is when a model comes back two-three years later and wants her shit taken down. Model release, remember?

Have you really done that? I mean, you certainly can't say on the flyer "come suck some dick on camera for cash" so you'd have to word it as some sort of "modeling." And if you're gonna do that you might as well just put an ad in the paper for "modeling" and then break it to them gently when they contact you. IMO, with my way, you'd reach a lot broader audience with a lot less work.

I feel the same way about everyone making their own decisions. I'm just thinking that with Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Google, etc, girls are going to be less-inclined to dabble in the pornographic arts. Of course, none of those things are terribly new so WTF do I know.

Jim_Gunn 01-13-2011 11:43 AM

In my experience, it has never been easier to recruit new girls for porn, at least for someone with my resources and experience. Back in the 90's I had to travel around the U.S. and Canada to strip clubs and actually talk strippers into doing porn. If I had saved all the money I spent on drinks and lapdances on those treks I could own a house right now! And if a new model from out of town did answer one of my ads in a newspaper or something like that, and I wanted to know what they looked like in advance of hiring them, I had to convince them to borrow a Polaroid camera from a friend, get them to take some shitty pics, and explain to them what Fedex was (most girls had no clue) and where to go in their local town and use my company's Fedex number to send me the pics or snail mail me.

Now, it's a generation later, and with the ubiquity of porn everywhere, role models like Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Jenna Jameson and Girls Gone Wild advertising training them that porn is cool, it's like fishing in a barrel by comparison. And with the ease and instantaneous nature of modern communication with email, the internet, web sites, search engines, awareness of popular porn brands and the proliferation of social networking sites, it's way easier to actually see, communicate with and recruit a model if she does express an interest.

As far as your guy's contention that the fact that they know that their images are going to be everywhere and people that they know are likely going to see them online is holding models back or giving them second thoughts about doing nude modeling or porn, I am not finding that to be the case at all and I mostly shoot brand new faces. It's true that I know a lot of new models whose families found out they did porn as little as a week later after their images and videos were posted online, but this all happens after the fact and causes them hassles after the shoots are already done. It's generally not stopping models from doing the shoots in the first place in my experience. Many of the new girls I speak to acknowledge that their friends & family are probably going to see them online and they just deal with it when it happens.

The Porn Nerd 01-13-2011 11:46 AM

I did do this, actually, about 2 years ago. I was banging this chick from Ohio and she needed $400 to fly back home. So I told her to go get me some girls, and I would pay her a hunnerd a pop. She got me four girls in 2 weeks.

Placing an ad is fine but a girl talking to another girl, and explaining that you're cool, etc, is much, much better. You have to make the flyer or card say 'model auditions' or some such but the girl will do the work explaining everything.

sinclair 01-13-2011 12:21 PM

I agree with Jim on this one for sure. I find it easier then ever, and I have been at it for over 8 years. Of course I am sure a lot of it has to be due to that fact alone. They often seek me out as I have been in it longer than anyone in my area.

And believe it or not our best sales tool has been honesty. Just like Mutt mentioned, telling them straight away that sooner or later they will be "found out" and explaining that if they are not ok with that this probably isn't for them.

Another thing I find useful is having a female do the interview. Girls feel comfortable with other girls to be sure. Some of the questions they have really have nothing to do with image, reputation or hiding what they do. It's really "girl stuff" like "do I have to be good at sucking dick", "I don't think my boobs are big enough", etc. These questions get asked a lot and having a girl there to answer them is helpful and more comfortable.

Girls know from the age of around 13 that porn is freely available on the Internet. The boys in their class tell them. So by the time they become 18 they are well aware.

Maybe some of them think it's a road to riches and don't care about being found out. But any honest shooter will soon tell them what the chances are of that happening and the consequences.

A girl used to be able to be a porn star and her family not know, today the chances of her getting shot for 2-3 days and keeping it from her family are slim.

Happens all the time.

We're regularly getting girls telling us their real names are being used. Some models directories ask for a girls real name, it's all about SEO. Much more important than the girls life.

Or she goes for a job interview and they Google her name. Happens.

Judging by some of the girls spammed here I would say it is.

Every shooter and agent I know of, except Jim, tells the same story. Same old girls popping up all over the place. The numbers are down and the quality falls along with it.

Jim, give me an access to your models page please.

Yes wandering around a mall recruiting girls is a great way.

To get thrown out.

Which is why today fewer turn up. Each one of these girls who wants her content removed tells her friends about the mistake she made and it spreads like wildfire. Magazines lasted a couple of months and rarely got shared, videos very similar. The Internet is forever and the consumption is 100 times or more.

I've had quite a few girls tell me that they first saw porn in their early teens and decided they wanted to be THAT girl in the video, and so when they were older they got into porn.

Mr Happy 01-13-2011 04:18 PM

I agree that future possible major DRAMA that girl may experience keeps her from doing porn.

However, in America there is a new major problem we must deal with in regards to finding new fresh talent. It is the sheer number males in society now.
Every single hot attractive girl has about 50 guys trying to stick the tongue up their ass at any given time.
So why would she need to do porn when these same guys will spoil her while she gets all the attention she needs from these guys.
No need to do porn, she has exactly what she wants pretty much handed to her on a platter.
Tons of these girls escort on the down low as well, again no need to do porn where she may face future drama and ridicule.

She can now just pick and chose what and when she wants to do something, simply due to the sheer number of males after her.

Think I am full of shit? Just go to any random hot chicks Facebook page and look at the sexual or flattering comments from at least 10 guys per photo
she took of herself or what not. She can get what she wants from those guys by simply texting, calling or DMing them.

Why would she need to do porn, when anyone of those guys will give her whatever she needs or wants!

That is what I see every day, so there is my two cents.

When was the last time you were at an American mall, Professor? Besides, one girl talking to another girl about sex is going to get her "thrown out"? Please, don't quote me if you're going to be this stupid. Thank you.

And the girl she talks to won't go to security and tell them what's happening?????

Or give your flyer to security.

Doing it with one girl on a visit to a mall has worked for us. Doing it the way you are talking has never worked for us. Finding a girl who can talk to other girls about adult modeling is a tough find. Getting girls to sell straight modeling is easy, getting them to sell porn modeling takes real skill.

Do it on a street and keep out of malls. They make a living from selling stands and licenses for people to hand out flyers.

But what do I know I've only been doing this for 33 years so will have to bow to Peabody's experience. :1orglaugh

Girls change their mind from 13-14 to 18.

Girls do adult work to make money.
Escorting is probably a better earner today and far safer as well as easier. Then there's poll dancing and stripping. All more private than going on the Internet and letting the family see you fucking.

All the above used to pay less than modeling, even if the girl was very good a very good model's money would outstrip it. Today unless a girl is doing hardcore and working 5 days a week she won't earn great. And not for long.

DWB 01-14-2011 02:48 AM

Here is my problem:

Idiot whore mongers download videos and photos from the sites and DVDs, bring them TO Thailand and show the girl. While the girl knows I what I do with the content, I tell all the girls I do not sell to Thailand, reducing the risk of her rice farming family seeing what she has done (yet it's OK that she's a hooker).

The girl is usually too dumb to know how this ass got the content on his computer and freaks out thinking he is looking at it right then and there, in Thailand.

It doesn't help that sometimes an IP does slip through and some asshole will show the girl her scene online. And if it's NOT on my site, he'll show her on a tube or on an affiliate site.

It also doesn't help with these captain-save-ho types tell the girl what she has done is bad and she should not do it anymore. Yet, she should fuck him for money and do it without a condom. She just can't do it with anyone else, especially not on video.

It also doesn't help that a few dick heads in the biz over here are way over paying the girls.

So now, it's MUCH harder to get girls to shoot.

its probably different for people like you vs people like steve. with you, these girls are thinking of it as more of a career. with steve, they are most likely thinking of it as money right now and not much else.

I had a shoot booked this morning and I just called the girl to confirm, she was ready to go! She's 5'6, 135 and 36dd... she wanted to bring her stupid bf, I don't shoot with bf's, husbands or anything other distraction nonsense. I did that a few times in the past, never again :2 cents:

Or worse, "managers". No actual manager ever shows up on set. BFs go to the bar or wherever.

MaDalton 01-14-2011 09:13 AM

we have far less problems nowadays actually. years ago we had complaints all the time that girls found their stuff on the internet even though we didnt sell to czech clients. by now everyone has understood how the internet works and only girls show up who know what they are getting into. (more or less)

but from my experience over here the quality overall is going down and decent girls are more into escorting than shooting porn - more money and less exposure. and while a good girl in the past could shoot 15-20 days a month, they're now happy when it's 5-10 days. and at that point the risk of getting popular is not worth it for some of them anymore.

Quoted for the truth.

When we first came here 30 girls would turn up for a casting in Prague, 2 a month. In Brno we would see about 5-6 girls a week, met them in a coffee shop near Tescos downtown. Shooting 250 scenes a year plus a ton of Readers Wives stuff was easy. The only reason we only did 250 a year was there was no where else to sell the stuff. Not enough magazines in the world.

We could give a good girl 10 days work. :)

epitome 01-14-2011 09:24 AM

The one's worried about being found out are a waste of time in the first place. They're usually the one's that want to do it for the fun of it, but won't actually do it for a million reasons. I've wasted so much time on those types thinking I can convert them. Now I *try to* leave it at no more than two rounds of communication if they are hesitant and then they know where to find me.

My favorites are always the one's that pick up and drop off the communication based on how much or little money they currently have.

Most tattoos can be covered enough and denial goes a long way. The problem isn't being discovered, it's telling "just one or two" people that absolutely cannot sit on that information despite being sworn to secrecy. There are enough ways to trick a camera if someone really wants to. Cover a tat, add a birthmark ... and then when someone says it you, show how its not. That can't happen if they tell just one person and they always tell someone.
