How often do you click on a webmaster board banner?

When you see a NEW program banner on the daily webmaster boards that you visit (GFY, AWI, etc.), how often do you click it to find out what it's about? Does your curiosity get you everytime? Some of the time? Do you not click it at all?

I never ever click on the banners, unless it's something I haven't heard of (which is unlikely, cuz most of those programs get their 'announcements' out anyway).

Or I check it, if a content/hosting/etc. provider offers specials.

But I guess that's cuz I spend so much time here. I bet the lurkers (bet there's more of em than we can dream of) click those banners like crazy, that's why advertizing is rather expensive here on GFY. :2 cents:

thank you pollers,
starting February 1st Oprano drops prices for banners to...ZERO
and only charges sponsors $500 per topic,
$100 per post

uh-uh-uh!

hrmmm, I was seriously considering buying a banner on one of the webmaster boards (not mentioning names). Though it does appear that the majority of people do click, the sample is really way too small to be definitive.

i've clicked two gfy banners, ever.

LUCL0NELY 01-16-2003 11:38 PM

Sly_RJ 01-16-2003 11:40 PM

Yeah, I am considering purchasing some spots on the boards in the future. From the research I've done so far, I would venture to say that print advertising in AVN magazine or Klixxx is the best way to spend your advertising dollar if you are trying to build a brand, although I don't think there is any real way to find out exactly how effective it is. Their expensive, but worth a shot I think.

Sigs are more effective. I click on banners every ow and then but I normally have just about everybody in my bookmarks somewhere. Banners are useful for making program announcements so they are worth the cost depending on what you are promoting.

Banners I remember, Epochs last 2, Adult Platinum, WEG Cash head, OxCash

i do click on banners and join programs that advertise...why?
because if you are here for the longrun you should have some
money alocated for your marketing, i just feel more comfortable
dealing with them !

i click banners when i see sometihng new and i don't like this new rule:

1/1/2003: if your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 468x60 instead of a 120x60.

it will turn the board to a real banner farm this time.

yeah soul, I agree.
I say we all start wearing banners to protest. What do you think? :)

Theo 01-17-2003 01:59 AM

not bad idea. No more signature from me :glugglug

If I do click on a banner I am more likely to signup to that programme if it is listed on a webmaster board/site because I feel it is more reputable.

do you remember which ones and WHAT made you do it?

Vivaldi 01-17-2003 07:41 AM

as i'm pretty new to this board i clicked "ePassporte" banner so far just to see if it was the same url that i had...
sigs are more effective - what if gfy randomly modified your signature (let's say every 10th time) - would you agree?

Serge_Oprano 01-17-2003 01:30 PM

I can't believe there are only 61 VOTING posters on GFY...

what is the ratio of posters who VOTE to the posters who don't?
