Iphone on Verizon? January 11
Hum interesting...
Would you ditch AT&T when Verizon finally gets a shot at the iphone? http://techcrunch.com/2011/01/07/wha...-i-say-iphone/ |
|
If it was on the 4G network yep!
|
I'm already on Verizon but with the Droid.. I am thinking about giving the iphone a shot cause I love my ipad but would never use AT&T for a phone. I think I'll hold off for a few mos to see what people think of iphone on Verizon before I switch cause my droid does everything I need a smart phone to do.

It's coming soon. Verizon just announced their Droid Bionic. 960X540 4.3inch screen, dual core 1.2ghz processor, 720p front facing camera, 1080p rear, 8mp camera, up to 128gb of storage and of course their 4G LTE technology.
On top of that, Apple just dropped the price of their 3GS to $50, they did the same thing to the iPhone 3G right before the 4 was announced. The rumors are a "4GS" with a 3.7inch display, more ram, fixed antenna issues and of course 4G capability for both AT&T and Verizon. |
It will be big, but at this point...it should have happened at least a year ago. Verizon already has phones that put a whooping on the the iPhone too, with a bunch more to come this year.
At Christmas Eve dinner with my family, there were no less than 12 Android phones and 1 iPhone. Even a few of the ATT people choose Android phones over iPhone. |
I still dont believe it till I see it. These have been nothing but rumors for years now. Apple only releases iPhone once a year and its not in Jan or Feb, not happening. There would have been a major announcement by now if it was launching. Apple originally took the iPhone to Verizon, but they turned it down claiming Apple wanted to much control and revenue, so Apple then went to AT&T. I still say there is no chance in hell Verizon ever gets the iPhone. If Apple is expected to announce anything in Feb as these reports have suggested, its going to be the iPad 2 thats expected in April, not an iPhone on Verizon LOL

And yes, the major announcements will come. Verizon hasn't done it yet because they didn't want people to hold off from buying their current top sellers, especially during the holiday season. Their Droid phones do very well; making an official announcement months ago that they're in the midst of building a massive 4G infrastructure along with an iPhone capable of using it would be a terrible business decision. http://news.cnet.com/8301-30686_3-20027833-266.html |
Totally going to depend on costs I am pretty happy with my iPhone 4 on att right now, and I have heard insider info on issues with CDMA to LTE hand off with VZ 4G phones in the NYC area.

Seems odd that Apple would let Verizon announce this and not do it at their own event. Just doesn't sound very apple like. Good time to have an event though - 11am on 1-11-11.

Haha, the iphone is obsolete. I guess Verizon needs to have it for the apple fanboys but android is infinitely superior.
|
Supposedly the Verizon keynote address at CES had not one word about an iPhone.

My G1 android sits in a box under my desk.... Plus I have way to much money invested in apps to switch to an android... |

Can you update a first generation iPhone to run the newest iOS? :winkwink: |
I have had the Hero and currently have the Evo, two Android phone. Love Android but its becoming a joke. Too many phone on too many carriers and most arent even running the same versions, its a clusterfuck, so is the market. Google REALLY needs to step in and force the carriers to upgrade their devices in a timely manner because if I have to buy yet ANOTHER phone just to get the newest OS update, I will leave. I wont be getting an iPhone until the 5 comes out running on 4G. Then it will be very tempting to leave Sprint.

Apple's web sit has iPhone for Verizon launching on February 10. Why screw with rumors? Go to the source.
|
It's confirmed, but not really all that great of news. When the next generation Android and iPhones are released now that will be news! This is just the same iPhone 4 now compatible with Verizon networks.
It's not worth signing a new 2 year contract to get a phone that will likely be outdated come June / July. If you're in the market for a smartphone, my advice would be to wait. The next generation of smartphones are going to be a big upgrade to what's currently available now. |
