Webair Reaches New Heights with State of the Art Datacenter

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Webair Reaches New Heights with State of the Art Datacenter

New York, NY (January 6, 2011) – Webair (www.Webair.com) starts the New Year off with an exciting announcement – the official opening of their new executive headquarters and flagship datacenter in Garden City, NY. Termed “NY1,” this state of the art datacenter for the managed hosting provider was acquired from JetBlue and was formerly the center of JetBlue’s flight operations. NY1 boasts over 50,000 square feet and was built with the purpose of delivering high density, reliable datacenter space.

NY1 houses Webair’s Network Operations Center which is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by onsite personnel and utilizes proximity cards and a biometric access control system. It is a modified Tier 4 facility with N+1 power and cooling infrastructure, Inergen gas-based fire suppression system and paralleling generators that provide redundant fault tolerant emergency power. With over 180Gbps of network capacity, physically diverse points of entry, redundant fiber routes and Manhattan bypass, Webair’s NY1 is one of the best connected facilities in the region.

Webair’s NY1 meet-me-room offers clients direct carrier neutral connectivity to providers including Level3, Global Crossings, AboveNet, Lightower, XO Communications and Verizon. Additional features include high density cabinets with flexible power configurations, disaster recovery seats, and a wide array of managed services.

“We are thrilled for our expansion into the new datacenter which enables us to provide clients with the latest technologies and advancements,” said Michael C. Orza, CEO of Webair.com. “In addition, we have implemented eco and energy-efficient programs into the facility such as Green cooling technology which leverages cold weather to reduce energy consumption. All our environmental systems are N+1 redundant, and the high-tech facility provides us the most reliability for our servers and allows us the ability to provide the highest level of service and space to support our growth.”

Webair’s commitment to enhancing service and support was recently highlighted with the launch of the Server Genius™ Support. Server Genius™ Support is made possible by a core of intelligent, highly trained, and dedicated team of technical engineers that always go above and beyond to support Webair’s diverse and growing client base. Webair’s newly expanded datacenter and advancements like Server Genius™ Support all work to maximize operating efficiency and provide the ultimate reliability for their customers. With the highest scale of technology and security, along with the highest caliber of support staff, Webair is positioned as leader in managed hosting services.

This makes me think this eco and energy-efficient program is aka "a window" ;)

Why not fit heat pumps that can take the calories from the heat in summer to provide AC to the server house? Far far more energy efficient for summer use....

I saw this posted on Facebook the other day. Congrats Mike & Crew!

Getting in a former Jet Blue Datacenter is as big of an announcement as when Directnic acquired the former Enron Datacenter - You know it was top notch!

So Webair OWNS that entire building? Or Webair is in a cage at that facility, or owns a few cabinets in the facility?

Interesting looking data center ...

In this pic, it looks more like a school...

And this one looks like a boutique hotel lobby...

Anyways, congrats on the very nice looking "new" data center; as a poster points out above, it was once utilized by JetBlue.

I don't really understand all these glamorous datacenters.. why not just have a normal nothing-flashy datacenter and make the office portion nice? What's the point in spending all that money building a mansion to store servers?

TeenCat 01-07-2011 10:39 PM

wow you have a big computer congrats :thumbsup

AmeliaG 01-07-2011 11:11 PM
