Pre-order A Geforce Fx Card !!!
Hey people, I don't know if any of you are excited as me when it comes to the Geforce FX card, but I've been searching Google news every day for information on it's release and found this artile which was just posted just over an hour ago -
http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/20...0116018197.htm Which states that the card is gonna be in short supply when it's released on March 7th, that they won't catch up with demand until MID-2003. In the link above there's a link to Best Buy's page where you can pre-order the card for $399 +tax, but it does have free overnight shipping :) The thing is that the card for pre-sale has 128-megs of ram, while the article says that there's also a 256-meg version of the card, but I suppose that's gonna sell for $499, but who knows. I just pre-ordered mine, so I'll be on top of the list, if something else comes up, I'll just cancel it, but for now, I've got myself in line at Best Buy :) |
I use ATI graphics gards.
|
I thought about getting into ATI, but the last 2 cards I've had were Geforce cards, so I'm hooked on them, ha ha ha. I almost got a Radeon 9700 Pro, but wanted to hold out for the Geforce FX
|
Is anyone else gonna pre-order or is it just gonna be me ordering ??? ha ha ha.
|
He must be getting commision :1orglaugh :1orglaugh \

I just figure that there's been people that have been waiting for the Geforce FX card like myself for a loooong time now, now that it's pre-orderable, it's time to tell the world, ha ha ha. |
om not into games, im not into graphics so excuse my ignorance
but: what the deal on that Geforce Fx hype? |
Well never heard of that exact company releasing THAT FX card. I'll just wait until a company I know releases one.
|
My 2 year old Geforce 2 MX original OEM board with 32MB of ram still runs half-life counter strike at well over 100FPS. No need to change.
NVidia makes good shit! Their TNT board was breakthrough. |

Like I say, I popped in my pre-order, but I'm still gonna keep my eyes peeled for other versions that are coming out and buy the best one. |
This card is fucking unreal.. The muscle this thing has is pretty mind boggling.. I would love to pre-order one, but I am probably going to wait for the 256 MB one to come out.. I have always gotten the cheaper Grafx cards because I have never really needed it, but not anymore.. I do a bit of 3d Studio max and the other computer in the office here has a nice GeForce card in it, and the rendering speeds are 3 times as fast as my Matrox G550, as well as the designing part of it..
Plus games look pretty fucking hot, and will blow your mind with this new FX.. At least I will have a decent graphics card for 6-12 months before I start feeling ancient :) |
Im thinking of getting a geforce fx, but Im not sure. I have the ti 4600, and my puter is 2.2ghz, 1gig rdram... so Im thinking, how much of a difference will I really see? I wont notice until they start making games based on those cards, and we are months and months away from games coming out that can max the cards out.

Half Life is like more than 4 years old. Not a good argument there. Try running Battlefield 1942 full details with your shitty card. :Graucho |

i have ATI RADEON 9700 PRO
and all i can say is its fucking good !!!!!! the best graphich i have ever seen even with DOOM 3 i can play very very very fast and with great + excellent graphics :=)) :thumbsup for ATI 9700 PRO |
As far as the speculation on the Geforce FX card comparing with the Radeon 9700 Pro, I'm hoping that as the card comes closer to coming out, more benchmarks will come out with tweaked drivers showing that the Geforce FX can perform a bit better than the Radeon 9700 Pro. That's just what I'm hoping. They'd have to be pretty damn stupid to release a card that's just as good or slower than the Radeon 9700 Pro, but who knows.
As far as ordering it, I'm getting it to jump into the order pool. I too would like to get the 256-meg version with the 500-mhz GPU, which I'm sure would add more to the card. Hopefully those will be out around the same time. |
I discovered this link here -
http://www.computerboot.com/nl/dept_81.html That shows the 256-meg version of the card and says that it sells for 692,00 Euros. How much is that in US money ??? |

I wonder why that place is charging soo much, perhaps it's just a store looking to take advantage of people, charging what they want for the card, knowing with the lack of quantity, that people will pay that much. I don't think that too many people here in the US would pay that much money for the card, I know that i sure as hell wouldn't. I'm willing to bet that if there is gonna be a lack of supply that Ebay is gonna be a gold mine for anyone that can get their hands on some of these cards when they first hit the market. |
Yeah the cinematic rendering of the FX is supposed to be unbelievable. We went were on the conference launch event and some of the demonstrations were phenomenal. We're an official nVidia partner so we'll have the FX in our hands pre-release so I'll post results when we have them. They have our software built into every card they make. The VP of technical development says he saw the FX with our glasses and it works flawlessly..."the best 3D he's ever seen":thumbsup
The only problem is ATI is planning to release their next card right about the same time. Can't stand ATI though :321GFY |
Does anyone else know where you can pre-order the cards ???
|
You can order the PNY version from Comp USA, but it's still only the 128-meg card with dual 400 mhz GPUs.
http://www.compusa.com/promos/geforc...s&cm_i te=gfx PLUS they expect to have the card on Feb 5th, so that's just a couple of weeks away. |
