Give Me Your Opinion

I have domains for griping and I've been thinking of building a site but undecided if I should go the blog route and just post my own gripes allowing comments or set up a board and let everyone post their own.

I think going the blog route would allow for better advertising opportunities over a bbb setup. What do you guys think?

I think you should make a forum site. Try to get returning surfers by maintaining an interesting forum. Delete bot posts and spam. You could make a blog with options for users to leave comments. Forums offer the best feedback experience.

I would go with a forum style site. It would get everyone involved and make the site more active. A blog won't really do that.

If the forum becomes very active it'll make for good advertising ops.

I have several dilemma's on which route to go stemming from the domains themselves to a bbb style site.

Forums take ages to populate with users so it would look pathetic for quite some time but going a wordpress route, I could post my own gripes and have a "full looking" site in no time.

But, the domains are:
gripe-board.com
gripe-boards.com
gripeboard.com
gripeboard.net
gripeboards.com
gripeboards.net

so this kinda' implies a bbb type site and not a blog.

I'm with JC on this, start with a blog and see how it grows, then turn into an forum, forums are a lot of work when they get busy

Definitely the blog first, and then once you have a dedicated following consider a forum.
A forum can really take a lot of your time, whereas a blog can be updated on a schedule.

Encouraging discussion on a blog is far easier than a forum.

I like the idea of a blog site so much more. I can control the topic's, control any/all ads and links and still allow comments to encourage a following.

forum for me ;)

what is gripe?

A forum with 30 topics looks shit - nobody would bother getting further than the index and definitely nobody would add to it for you.

A blog with 30 decent sized posts looks a lot better and people might actually read them. Easy to dump a load of fake comments to make it look like other people care too.

What's all the bitching about...

I can post links to a TON of blogs that people post in the comments and carry on conversations, just as we do here in a message board format. So yes...a blog WILL do that.

"gripe" as in "flu"??
