In this state you would have been arrested for going that speed, and rightfully so.

Kanoealoha 01-16-2003 12:20 AM

Got pulled over once...the cop said he'd give me a break...
gave me a whole 10 bucks off... nice cop (note the sarcasm)

stanton 01-16-2003 12:24 AM

Murphy 01-16-2003 12:26 AM

And you're complaining? That cop cut you some *major* slack.

In most states, there is a speed limit that if you go over that, you *must* be arrested... no leeway allowed for the cop. Chances are that the cop said you were just doing under that limit so that you wouldn't get arrested. You got a ticket for doing 100... which is REALLY close to most state's mandatory arrest limits (it varies from 100 to 120 mph). I know of no state in which 135 is *not* a mandatory arrest, with Montana being the only state in question (they have some odd/lax speeding laws).

He did you a favor. I've done over 120 myself, so I'm not busting your chops for going that fast, but if I got busted going that fast (almost got busted once), I'd expect to get arrested.

---
EDIT:
Oh wait, you're talking about KPH and not MPH... heh, my bad. I thought you were going fast :winkwink:

asuna 01-16-2003 12:40 AM

135? thats nothing, here in quebec the cops won't pull you over if your under 120, 130 even, I see some people on the 40 here at 190+ atleast once a day

Wilbo 01-16-2003 06:14 AM

130 KPH is about 85 MPH

Slick 01-16-2003 06:21 AM

I almost shit myself about a month ago, I was going 75 MPH in a 55 MPH zone and the State Police pulled me over. I DIDN'T have my insurance or registration papers in the vehicle because I needed the folder that they were stored in a couple of days before and never put them back in.

I thought that I was a goner for sure without my paperwork, but I totally lucked out. I was 2 hours away from where I lived, but the cop that pulled me over was an old school buddy and he let me off the hook with just a warning. If it was anyone else, i would've been fucked.

It's nice because 5 people that I went to school with are now cops, one of them is a local cop that's my cousin, so I have my cop connections, ha ha ha.

asuna 01-16-2003 02:22 PM

Cop connections don't mean shit anymore

NBDesign 01-16-2003 02:29 PM
