Rochard 12-21-2010 01:51 PM

For the love of god I have no idea why we treat Cuba like we do. Fucking Bay Of Pigs was like forty fifty years ago. Time to lay this one to rest.

What a waste of resources.

sorry, just find it a ridiculous waste of time, energy and material, to go and destroy something as special as a cigar. Just because of some bullshit political embargo, that should of been lifted years ago :2 cents:

A lot of peoples Xmas treats are gonna go up in smoke for no good reason.:disgust :pimp

magicmike 12-21-2010 02:16 PM

fuzebox 12-21-2010 04:01 PM

There wouldn't be much of a demand for Cuban cigars if they were not illegal :2 cents:

This is a US thing. Does not affect Canada. We have our laws, you have yours.

Was it really that difficult to comprehend?

fatfoo 12-21-2010 06:04 PM

Cuban cigars are not contraband in Canada. Of course, different countries are different.

Spunky 12-21-2010 06:16 PM

A real shame. They charge like 300 bucks for import duties for a box of 25,and they are from the US

Yes. Cuba didn't point nukes at us, so they're allowed to sell their cigars in Canada.

It's actually an excellent revenue stream for some small businesses in Canada. I remember mailing cubans several times to people in the US. Always went to the same friendly shop keeper to buy them. A nice Iranian guy, who knew how to wrap & package them correctly, to give you the best chance of them getting through customs.

Sounded as if a good portion of his customers were Americans wanting cuban cigars, whether it was directly or indirectly.

Jon Oso 12-22-2010 04:03 AM

I understand the trade embargo, as stupid as it is...

But if they were being shipped to the US, they were already paid for... which defeats the purpose of confiscating them, the money is already in the pockets of the Cubans who sold them ...

If they really want to make it effective they need to stop the money from getting to Cuba, not the Cigars from getting to the US.

I just think it's retarded. Hell, Japan bombed one of our naval bases and we still do plenty of trade with them. It wasn't even the Cubans pointing nukes at us, it was allowing Russia to put their Nukes there for THEM to point them at us. And it's not like we don't have Nukes pointed at anyone else.

Hypocrisy.

It's not like the cigar industry just ground to a halt... You know your stuff, so you can't say that there aren't world class cigars also being made in Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominicon Republic, etc...
