Ulead Media Studio Pro vs. Vegas Video
Ok, here's the problem. I got Vegas Video and Ulead Media Studio Pro.
Which would you choose? Girlfriend does video editing, knows Ulead very well. She tried Vegas Video and said it was too much like Premiere (confusing) What advantage would Vegas have over Ulead? Better capture quality? Better save quality? Any other opinions? Thanks! :) |
You can open and save in every format with Vegas.
By far the better program, and I have tried about 10 of them. |
was making screenshots and video clips within the hour on Vegas Video :thumbsup

I would say Vegas, although if your capturing Windows Media Files I suggest doing it straight into WM 7.1 Encoder.
What is your end format that you are shooting for? Mpeg? |
Video Vegas has my vote as well - I did a lot of research before deciding and went with Video Vegas. I was doing basic editing within a few hours - if I can do it...anybody can :winkwink:

I like Begas Vid too... But I am still a big Premiere fan... Except for capturing.

We are not doing anything major. Capturing video, adding a URL and saving it. That is all. Do you know how to split a long MPEG into smaller ones? I know you are way into multimedia, maybe you can solve the mystery. :( |
Vegas video had the easiest learning curve than any other software I've used. I still find neat little tricks everyday, but it was super easy to get started.
I don't do to much MPEG editing, but I think you can chop up MPEG on Vegas Video the same way you do anything else. |

Upload video to computer, edit it. Then we want to save it as mpeg1 (or wmv). While saving it, we want the program to save the full video into 2 minute clips. Does Vegas do that? I was reading other threads, seems people edit and save video in Vegas Video then load it up into Cleaner 5 to chop it into Mpgs, on the other hand, no one has said if Cleaner 5 will chop one big AVI into 2 minute mpegs. Believe me, when I figure this out, I will post my results. Until then, this seems more difficult then it should be. |
Capture the video wherever you want, it could be in Vegas or VIrtual Dub, or even Windows Media Encoder.
Start up Vegas File - Open Open movie clip up the very top above the movie is a blue bar, be also aware of the slider bar down below move your mouse to the move bar and manipulate the segment of video they you want to have (blue bar start to finish would be the segement) now choose File pop down menu then Render As Choose your format There's your segemented clip. I think the mpeg2 codec in Vegas is pretty good, I get about 1 minute at 30fps per 30MB, I burn a whole DVD in one file at 2.5 -3 gigs. Then I take that and MBR it up to 700k in Media 7 encoder.. and stream it intelligently.. works killer There is no way in Vegas (at least that I know of) to auto chop into segments. VCD Cutter does though; http://www.seller-club.com/~vcdcut/ |
