i've been to Cambodia twice. i recommend checking out the infamous S-21 prison tour: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuol_Sleng_Genocide_Museum as well, hiring someone to take you to a military base to shoot machine guns. quite the experience and it's a 10 minute drive on a tuk-tuk. if you are going to be there for more than a couple of days, i highly recommend taking a trip to Angkor Wat, the temples are incredible.

and watch your back lol.
|
get a ladyboy for me :)

I lived in Cambodia for a few months. Siam reap is pretty cool but full of tourist. Ankor wat is cool if you dig ruins... Hope your not working there - Cambo is not the most work conducive atmosphere. Head to Poipet for a real taste of sin :)

What do you want to know exactly?
How much time will be in each? You have a budget? You want girls? Drugs? |

I don't know, and to each their own, but I absolutely hated Hanoi. Here's one of many reasons why:
I'm the type of guy who likes to walk the streets, especially when I hit a new country, but that was a little unpleasant in Hanoi. People selling shit on the street can be a little aggressive too, or at least moreso than in Thailand. People would follow me for 6 blocks before giving up. Had a nice hotel booked in the old quarter for 4 nights, but only lasted 2, before I just went to the airport and hopped on the first flight to Thailand. Siam Reap's a cool little city though, and the temples are awesome. I found Cambodians to be extraordinarily nice, and a very genuine nice too. Not a "i'll be nice, so I can hopefully get a big tip" nice, but genuinely great people. I guess that's what a couple decades of war with some genocide thrown in does to your country. You can tell, they just want peace now, and don't want any fighting. |

Also went to Vietnam and I liked both countries a lot. Friendly people and cheap. Don't be the idiot tourist and you will be good. More people trying to rip me off in 3 days of Bangkok than 3 weeks Vietnam/cambodia. Here some pics http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...5&id=638856678 |
I want to visit to try their Thai sticks
|
have fun!
|
It could pretty cold now in Hanoi...

Angkor! Go to Angkor. Whatever your plans, modify them to go to Angkor. Day 1, go and marvel. Just hang out at the different ruins. Day 2, eat a happy pizza then go marvel at the places you didn't make it to on day 1.

I would love to see Vietnam, hope one day I will have money for such trip.
|
just came back from Vietnam. attention paxum and payoneer cards works only with half of the ATMs overthere, so always have some cash with you.
we were only in north vietnam and it was really nice to travel the countryside on rented motorbikes - dont move from city to city every other day, stay rather in one place, rent a motorbike and travel around the countryside... |
Dont the girls do good yum yum down there in Cambodia? Saw it in a documentary.

What was the highlight of your trip? |

Ankor Wat is amazing and for sure a must do. S-21 is a highlight as in you gotte do it if you want to know the history of the country a bit and what the people have been through. The whole Mekong Delta area is great too, going through the floating markets is a great way to meet the locals. Don't take the tourists boats though ;))) Think this was one of the better trips I did sofar :2 cents: |
