Jullian Assange Leaks are you Pro or Con??? Simple question and poll
So you behind him or do you think someone should shut him up ASAP???
|
its not like he hacked into to systems and stole that info or paid someone to steal it for him.
if you have a problem with leaking then focus should be directed into securing your intel better. on the other hand i cannot be against exposing government entities that may be involved in shady practices. |
i'm all for exposing government corruption & crimes, but Assange will be used as a tool to push through legislation to censor the Internet, and that's not good. The police state is here, now. :2 cents:

Needs an option for "I don't really give a shit about any of the leaked stuff"
|

Might as well get the revolution started today rather than waiting for the food riots a few years from now. :) |
I'm okay with exposing fraud or waist or corruption or any kind of illegal activity. This is what we have news organizations for. It's one thing to expose something that is illegal, but another thing to expose hundreds of thousands of classified government secrets with the only intention of embarrassing a country.
In this case, the US isn't embarrassed. These are mostly cables from the US State Department - talking about the secrets of other countries. Lots of governments are pissed about this, pissed about what has been released about them and their governments into the public.... And at the same time they all fear when Wiki Leaks exposes their secrets. I wonder how many billions this just cost the US - the way the US government around the world sends information will need to be changed, and then the political damage that has been done.... And what did the general public gain? A bunch of documents that no one gives a shit about has been released? LOL. |
Yes and No. |
Governments watch and track everything WE do, and we fund them, so finding out everything THEY are up to, just sounds like the right way to go!
A truly transparent government is our best plan towards weeding out the bullshit and corruption. More power to the leakers! |

I do agree with Amp though that it will just be used as an excuse to do 'something' |

This crap the government does is like what they make hot dogs out of.... just shut up and take a bite and be grateful it tastes pretty good on a bun.

was just reading about the origins of wikileaks.
Wikileaks formulated its mandate on its website as follows: "[Wikileaks will be] an uncensorable version of Wikipedia for untraceable mass document leaking and analysis. Our primary interests are oppressive regimes in Asia, the former Soviet bloc, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, but we also expect to be of assistance to those in the west who wish to reveal unethical behavior in their own governments and corporations," CBC News - Website wants to take whistleblowing online, January 11, 2007, emphasis added). This mandate was confirmed by Julian Assange in a June 2010 interview in The New Yorker: "Our primary targets are those highly oppressive regimes in China, Russia and Central Eurasia, but we also expect to be of assistance to those in the West who wish to reveal illegal or immoral behavior in their own governments and corporations. (quoted in WikiLeaks and Julian Paul Assange : The New Yorker, June 7, 2010, emphasis added) people that say wikileaks just exists to destroy america are silly. |
