Hopefully you aren't buying that tv there, its way overpriced. No I wouldn't buy a warranty for that much. Are you doing the buy one get one free special there, where you get a free 32' samsung?

No i didnt extend the warranty on mine cause chances are by the time the shit died there would be a better newer model out already..

They were not delivered yet so I am thinking about canceling the extended warranty and see what happens...I am sure they will offer it after a year anyways. I am undecided...

i have an insurance policy that i pay $75 a month for that covers a shit ton of stuff in my house even my tv for standard issues
its through country wide

hmmmm I have co-op insurance with Allstate, and added off site insurance with my plan. But doubt I have repairs for TV covered.

I am going to see how far the manufacturers warranty goes, the salesmen was pushing the extended hard, something about repairing a blown pixel, etc. Then I got the monster surge protector and cables...he said these will prevent this and that.

Chances are by the time the manufacturer's warranty runs out the tv will be 50% of the cost it is now. Definitely don't go with the warranty.

PC Richard's entire business is trying to sell you useless warranties. Do you really think you'll be keeping that TV for more than 5 years anyway, as fast as tech is moving these days?

Don't buy anything from those criminals. The last time I went into one of their stores, there were more people working the floor than actual customers. I had about 3 of them try to swoop in on me at the same time. That tells you all you need to know about them.

Go somewhere else to get that TV. I spit on PC Richard. They can suck my sweet asshole. That's my fucking review of them. Take it or leave it.

The surge protector, cables and the warranty are the big profit items for a place like that.

I never take the extended warranty. Over the course of life you'll get one or two lemon's that die early but you'll save a fortune on warranties.

I saw a woman take the warranty on a toaster once at bestbuy, it was almost a third of the purchase price, haha.

This is good advice. It's better to gamble on technology working, because chances are good that it won't fail before you end up throwing it in the dump because you want the newest model.

No. I paid way less than that for a warranty on a TV that was 3x more than that one.

I just bought a 55" Samsung from Best Buy, recent sale couple months back. They were selling like hotcakes. Amazing pic., love the TV x 100 and I own a dozen LCD's from diff. makers.

I opted out on the warranty tho.

Many years ago I worked summer for a TV store owned by Best Buy. The shop gets to keep around 46% of the warranty amount, or at least that was the number back then. And if you sold warranties amounting to a total of $1800 per month, you got yourself a nice first level bonus of $100, then at $2500 you got another $100 bonus and aftrer a certain amount you got yourself a percentage of everything over the set amount.

This is where a shop today is making it's money.

yup, this is pure profit to them. The other high mark up items are the cables and other accessories, that is why they try and upsell you:thumbsup I very rarely buy extended, did on one of my cars, worked out well, because of little things, also on a built in dishwasher, with in home service:thumbsup

Never pay to insure something you can afford to replace.

just buy with a credit card. most offer a warranty doubler where after the manufacturers warranty runs out the credit card coverage kicks in

Unless you're buying something with a tube or bulb, don't bother. When's the last time you had a flat screen tv or LCD monitor fail? I've never had one die yet, unless it was dropped or hit with something.

Even the cheap Insignia's from Best Buy seem to last forever.

Exception would be cell phones or digital cameras which are easily broken... as long as the warranty cover accidental damage....

As everyone has already pointed out extended warranties are a scam and you shouldn't let yourself be pressured by a salesman to get one. I've bought numerous high end electronics over the years, never got the extended warranty and have never had anything break before the expected life of the item.

One thing that wasn't really mentioned was the scam those expensive " Monster " cables and surge protectors are. These are also sold to make you believe you are getting a superior product which isn't true. They are WAY over priced.

I use this website below to get all by stuff. I got 4 HDMI cables of various lengths shipped to my house for less than 1 6' HDMI cable at Target or Walmart. I could've added a wall mount for my plasma and still would have spent less that the cost of ONE Monster HDMI cable at a place like Best Buy.

How many TV repair shops do you see these days? You've probably never seen one.

I'll just say the same as others... Extended warranties are a scam for the most part, don't waste your money.

The only TV I had go on the fritz was a DLP and it went in the garbage.

I used to own 3 computer stores and I've got to admit: with all the fine print... those extended warranties are basically useless.

the only thing i bought an extended warranty on is my BMW. it covers pretty much everything for the one i bought. you get covered to 100k miles, and have the wheels and tires warranty if anything ever happens to those for another 1200 bucks. foreign cars is one example of a warranty that will cover your ass. i just took my car in for some minor shit and the bill would have been about 2k, but since i have the warranty i pay 0. always always always get the extended warranty on certified preowned cars.

I just came from PC Richards and got credited for the extended warranty and taxes, $429

They tried one last attempt to bring in a heavy hitter manager to try and at least take a two year warranty.

It has been about 12 years since I shopped for a TV and they are cheap these days...so the money saved on the warranty is substantial.

Don't buy the warranty, if it doesn't break within the first 30 days you are out of the woods. If it does bring it back and get a replacement for free

Correct use a amex or some visa/mc cards offer a double warranty on top of what they offer. :2 cents::thumbsup

Did you make sure to order gold plated HDMI cables too?

Damn I payed close to 4000$ for my 42 inch plasma Panasonic a few years ago... Prices have dropped ALOT!

Never buy extended warranty on home electronics. By the time TV's begin to fail they are out dated anyway.
