_Richard_ 12-10-2010 11:07 AM

how could there possibly be a filibuster going on?

12clicks?

IllTestYourGirls 12-10-2010 01:57 PM

So now do we get to call the democrats the party of no and obstructionists?

Now the democrats are holding up unemployment benefits and tax cuts for the working class. Good job lol.

Tom_PM 12-10-2010 02:08 PM

Fail. He's an Independant.

Oh, and in case you didnt notice, the senate Republicans voted NO on the extension of unemployment benefits yesterday. Why? Because even though Obama has agreed to giving in to them again, they REFUSE to vote on ANYTHING until their precious bonus tax cuts for the rich are voted on.

arock10 12-10-2010 02:15 PM

hey PR Tom we have starving billionaires here that need their handout first. give them a break

They also voted no for the founding of the military bill that has been going through without a hitch for the last 48 years. DADT repeal is included in that bill.

Okay, okay, to be fair... he hasn't switched *just* to be elected.

Tom_PM 12-10-2010 02:32 PM

Yeah, Scotty "cosmo" Brown said he'd vote to repeal DADT. But he voted NO yesterday in protest because... he wants those extra shiny gold coins for rich people to cram into offshore banks first.

Ok got me youre right he is a far left indie that votes the dem line.

Do you blame them for waiting for the tax cuts to be voted on? Look at all the lies obama told about the health care bill. He is anything but a man of his word. I mean do you belive obama when he said tax cuts creat jobs? Or when he says they dont?

Tom_PM 12-10-2010 02:43 PM

I dont see what any of that has to do with the price if tea in china.

Oh wait. Ok. So you're saying that it's a matter of Obama having to be trusted or mistrusted. Well, you know what? It's neither. Obama can say he'll sign something. But he doesnt create the bill. So it's a moot point. The senate had to have voted Yes on them all and send them to Obama for him to sign.

IllTestYourGirls 12-10-2010 02:47 PM

Sad to see so many people cheering the government bribing them with other peoples money.

Tom_PM 12-10-2010 02:47 PM

What are the repuiblican senators afraid of then? For the first time in history this congress has held up unemplyment benefits as if it's a luxury that needs to be paid for. But they want unpaid for tax cuts to be extended for people proven to only save the money, and dont need it, and for whom they already voted to have them expire. They only passed because they had an expiration date, and because Dark Lord Cheney emerged from his Pit of Doom to cast a tie breaking vote in the Senate. People forget that shit and they shouldnt.

IllTestYourGirls 12-10-2010 02:50 PM

And people shouldnt forget shit like the government promising that the income tax would never go above 1% and 7%.

IllTestYourGirls 12-10-2010 02:57 PM

Quote:

About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009. Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability. That's according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a Washington research organization.
Quote:

The result is a tax system that exempts almost half the country from paying for programs that benefit everyone, including national defense, public safety, infrastructure and education. It is a system in which the top 10 percent of earners -- households making an average of $366,400 in 2006 -- paid about 73 percent of the income taxes collected by the federal government.

The bottom 40 percent, on average, make a profit from the federal income tax, meaning they get more money in tax credits than they would otherwise owe in taxes. For those people, the government sends them a payment.
Super fair system we have.

At least Bernie Sanders is honest about the fact that he is a socialist. :winkwink:

cykoe6 12-10-2010 03:27 PM

The real irony is that every day that Sanders ties up the tax bill is another day lost from the schedule that the Democrats will not have to try and cram DADT, DREAM and START through the lame duck session. I say let Bernie talk until the session is over and renew the tax cuts in the new congress. :thumbsup
