It works because there is no set fee, thus theoretically allowing the end user to decide how much to donate.

Try going to a software company:


"Hey this piece of sw is great, but I will also be using three others. I have only $100 to spend, so that means you're getting $25."

Besides, such a system was basically implemented in TPB looooooong ago.

The huge guys/groups doing submits often received donations.

Creators can post up their work. Seeders can post up the creator's work if the creator hasn't.

They both get paid however much the end user decides.
