Flattr - Now THIS is irony. Created by co-founder of Pirate Bay
Flattr, created by Peter Sunde, co-founder of torrent site Pirate Bay.
It's a payment system who uses a tag-line of, "GET PAID FOR YOUR WORK - LET YOUR FANS SUPPORT YOU." http://flattr.com WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?! If that isn't the biggest case of the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is. |
Just the guys you want to trust with your credit card.
|
You retard, look how it's monetized.
It works because there is no set fee, thus theoretically allowing the end user to decide how much to donate. |
Try going to a software company:
"Hey this piece of sw is great, but I will also be using three others. I have only $100 to spend, so that means you're getting $25." |
Besides, such a system was basically implemented in TPB looooooong ago.
The huge guys/groups doing submits often received donations. |
Quote:
Don't give a rats ass how it's monetized. That's not the point. |

This month, thanks to Flattr, I'we shared my world to the world. I earned 0.03 cents - the best 0.03 cents ever! " - Alexandros

sounds like a great way for the other torrent sites (and those small illegal tubes) to have a donation button

Again, what the simplistic OP failed to realize is that this method has long existed on torrent sites, but never had a formal company to work with. |

Hey... Inception just came out on DVD, you should hurry up and download it, or seed it, or whatever the fuck you thieving people do. Putting you on the pirate list. Thanks for outing yourself. :thumbsup |

I know logic is difficult for you to follow, but I promise to hold your hand. |

Thus the irony. Gotta get up pretty early to get one past the GFY crowd these days. |
Quote:
This system solves that issue. Creators can post up their work. Seeders can post up the creator's work if the creator hasn't. They both get paid however much the end user decides. Again, refer to my example and let me know how that works out for you. |

You still don't understand the word irony. But that's OK, most of the other thieves, scammers, pirates and freeloaders don't either. |
Quote:
Are you downloading Inception yet? Make sure you give the studio $10 bucks for it. I'm sure this new dandy system is already in place for them and everyone who is downloading it will pay for it. They have been trained to do so for so long now, paying for something they usually steal is a no brainer. You're clearly a freeloading, thieving person. Never seen someone get so defensive about the Pirate Bay here before. You work for them? Probably do. Regardless, you've missed the point of IRONY and that was the point of this thread. Instead you want to defend their method to monetize the system and ignore the reason of the post. You have done GFY proud. |
Quote:
You really are this simplistic, aren't you? Again, this idea is NOTHING new and ALREADY exists, just not formally. Again, donations have long been a monetization model for both the creators and seeders. Need you be reminded of the music albums that were for donation only? Or how about Panera Bread's new method of donation-only stores? |
Alright kids...Take it somewhere else.
Anyway,I am sure the site will do good-Like it or not. They also seem to be doing a good job supporting WikiLeaks... |
Quote:
And you call me simplistic. :1orglaugh |
mgtarheels, you clearly work for one of these scum bag organizations. Just finish outing yourself and say who. The suspense is killing me.

You're either not recognizing or refusing to recognize the target market. The target market is not for mainstream users but for those already donating to seeders/groups that leak the torrents. There is no irony in this. Again, refer to my example. It completely nullifies your irony argument. If the users were to donate the same amount as the product costs, then that's a different story. That's also not how the system is set up to work. |

And you missed it again. Unbelievable. :Oh crap Putting you on ignore. Bye. |

You need the definition of work. |

The same people who say this: "0 torrents has been removed, and 0 torrents will ever be removed." And respond to take down notices like this: "It is the opinion of us and our lawyers that you are ....... morons, and that you should please go sodomize yourself with retractable batons." Now say this while still saying those other things: "Get paid for your work" That was the point. A point I figured would be clearly obvious, but I was wrong and gave the dumb asses on GFY too much credit by thinking they would see that. Quote:

I didn't know that DWB and Mike have ever worked together on anything...let me see: DWB owns his own company and shoots content exclusively in Asia where he lives. Mike owns his own company and mostly shoots in Atlanta where he lives. And DWB has removeyourcontent.com in his sig which is the company that I and many other content producers use to dmca our content off of thieves sites. Bro, you have lost me with your post. It's totally and completely off. |
hmm, it seems many big and reputable sites also use flattr , maybe there is more to it then just simple torrents and pirated content ?
phpmyadmin.net, noscript.net, w3.org, sourceforge.net all have flattr buttons on their main page |
