I have mastered the best breakfast possible!

Oatmeal aka mush!

It's really healthy, high in fiber and nutrients with almost nothing bad.

And it's only about 30 cents.

Add some natural honey, milk, and a banana and your ready for action.

ASLO it will make you enjoy fancy food more. (Bonus)
Easy to make. (Bonus)
Never goes bad. (Bonus)

GENIOUS! :pimp

I like oatmeal with a little brown sugar.

TidalWave 12-06-2010 11:27 PM

high in carbs tho :(

potter 12-06-2010 11:28 PM

i can only do it in phases. i'll eat it every day for like 6 months, but then i can't touch the stuff again for another 6 or so. it's weird.

The trick to making badass home made oatmeal is to add a pinch of salt. Just a pinch, don't go nuts, but you need a touch of salt to contrast your sweet if you're adding brown sugar or honey.

there's nothing wrong with carbs, generally speaking.

re: oatmeal, processed oats are problematic due to being high on the glycemic index and having many/most of the nutrients processed out. to get the best low glycemic, high nutrient oatmeal, choose steel cut groats or any oatmeal that takes 30+ minutes to cook.

When I was a kid we had mush, and it was made like oatmeal, except using cornmeal. I know mom would cook it, then fry it in bacon grease, then serve it with syrup. It wasn't horrible, but I bet it was fairly unhealthy. Fat and sugar overload.

I don't think I have eaten that as an adult, come to think of it. Oatmeal, yes, mush no

You'd be surprised but there is "honey flavored syrup", marketed as HONEY in large font and "flavored syrup" in small text.

I have been looking all over for this, I live in CostaRica and I can't find steel cut anywhere. For now I am just using whole oat, it is the least processed for what I have available.

tranza 12-07-2010 10:33 AM

I drink a glass of yogurt in the morning, and that's it for me.

chaze 12-11-2010 07:09 AM

I decided to add two eggs to my breakfast now.

So whole oatmeal with non processed honey and two organic eggs.

To drink I usually just have water.
