Is everyone on Black Ops superhuman or am I just shit?

I swear every new COD game people get faster and faster and I get shittier and shittier. I think the most important thing though is just experience and knowing the maps, I just started playing.

garce 12-05-2010 10:35 PM

If you're not >19, you're toast

potter 12-05-2010 10:39 PM

Take off work for 5 work days the day after the game is released. Spend 18 hours every day for 7 days in a row playing the game. Sleep and play the game, anything else do WHILE playing the game.

Do that and you'll be fine.

No one is "better" at any game -- it's just how much time they've wasted on it. It's not exactly bragging rights to be the best at a video game if you're older than twenty.

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh exactly. I am pretty decent on the previous titles after some experience. But I've played mw2 and world at war straight after release and never got my ass handed to me this bad. I am constantly running in front of enemies with my back turned, watching an area for a sec and as soon as I move I'm instantly shot, etc. At least I can play and get a laugh out of how shitty I am, my older cousin is almost 30 and sounds like a whining 10 year old throwing a tantrum when he plays. So fucking annoying.

campimp 12-05-2010 10:49 PM

my 10 year old nephew kicked my ass like nothing else on that game.... i didnt even know what i was looking at and he was sending remote control bombs and blowing me up, by the time i came back to life and was trying to figure out where i was he was right there again killing my ass.... i officially gave up video games and admitted i am too old to compete anymore

bring back the days of Road Rash and Mortal Kombat on Sega... god bless jonny cage

Agent 488 12-05-2010 11:00 PM

even though the average video game player is 34 and the industry as a whole is considered a graying market.

Nicky 12-05-2010 11:25 PM

I stopped playing console games after N64

kane 12-05-2010 11:32 PM

I feel you. I got Starcraft 2 a little while back and my buddy and I played against the computer a decent number of times then we tried facing other actual people and get out asses handed to us.

Arnjen 12-05-2010 11:54 PM

I just noticed that if you don't sleep 24hours and you are bit sleepy but can't fall asleep and you play the game you are better than average when you play it really it works take me on my word and you will say i was right ;)

Supz 12-06-2010 12:00 AM

If I cant play someone face to face in a video game I wont play. Those 13 year old punks are too good. If I am going to lose that bad, I want to be able to put someone in a headlock.

Horny Dude 12-06-2010 12:01 AM

I was really good with COD4 then sucked ass in MW2, but I'm back to being good in Black Ops. Lot of it gas to do with the killstreaks. In MW2 they were way over powered, plus most players would camp like fucking crazy for the predator-harrier-chopper gunner combo. Maybe when u getthe hang of the maps you'll do better.

So if you are not older than 19?

Do you mean <19 ??

moeloubani 12-06-2010 12:35 AM

im almost 26 and yes, i am superhuman at blockops will kill anyone, any day, any time

mynameisjim 12-06-2010 12:48 AM

It's true, most good players are actually a little older, like mid 20s.

But the key things are.

1) Learn the maps. You should always be either in the perfect spot or going to the perfect spot. If you are ever just wandering then you are not playing right.

2) User your grenades. If you are dying and you still have both tactical and lethal grenades you are not playing right. If you are approaching a high traffic area, throw a grenade in there. If you are approaching a building or corner, throw your flashbang. etc.

3) When starting out, work the outside of the map. I'm still shocked by how many people I see running across the middle of the map. You want to be places where the number of sides you can be shot from is the lowest. In the middle of the map you can be shot from 360 degrees..lol.

4) Don't stop moving while shooting. Shoot and move at the same time. This part is a bit more advanced but move away from the direction the other guy is shooting. For example if a guy is coming around a corner, it will be easier for him to aim towards the corner than away from it, so you should start shooting and strafe away from the direction he is turning. With some practice this becomes automatic and you'll be able to beat most players when working your way across a map.

edit: And don't sprint around corners. :)

xenigo 12-06-2010 12:50 AM

I bought the game last week and this is the first game I've bought since Unreal Tournament. I'm in exactly the same boat... I keep getting my ass handed to me in the most serious kind of way. I'm trying to study the strategy guides online. lol

scuba steve 12-06-2010 05:32 AM

This game is more balanced than MW2. The guns suck, some that are the best I would never touch in MW2 but in BO they are your best option.

Someone already said it, learn the maps, then you'll see player habits and tendencies

CamTraffic 12-06-2010 05:39 AM

you ll be Fine and start kicking ass once you learn the maps and get better weapons no worries.

i was pissed off when i started too, was dying so fast... not anymore.

i like mw2 better though, way too many "camping" spots on black ops

Chris 12-06-2010 05:46 AM

If you have to put that much time into a game - im really not interested lol

CaptainHowdy 12-06-2010 05:49 AM

I'm flattered at sucking at videogames...

justinsain 12-06-2010 07:16 AM

I'm 53.

I play TDM and consistently have the highest or near highest K/D ratio almost every game but usually finish around the middle in total kills. My thinking is by getting a high K/D ratio I've been more productive for the team unlike this guy that that thinks he's the God of War even though he only netted his team 2 kills :winkwink:

https://youtube.com/user/ELPRESAD.../2/OdJDWjOf_Ww

I'm having a lot of fun with BLOPS and don't have any complaints with the game. About the time I start to get bored with it " Homefront " will be out and the cycle will continue :)

seeandsee 12-06-2010 07:21 AM

i play just flash games now :)

stephane76 12-06-2010 07:50 AM

love the game, add me there, game tag : FIAP

dodger21 12-06-2010 08:07 AM

ive never fuckin been shot in the back so many times in my life

nico-t 12-06-2010 08:15 AM

i stopped playing games after the ps1... nowadays i see it as a huge waste of time

For some reason it seems like all i play with is noobs, my k/d was 3.5 for a whole week and then i started trying to do contracts and makes you play the game so differently so it brought it down like crazy

Pipecrew 12-06-2010 10:46 AM

i beat the shit out of people in that game all day long. Once you get some classes pro'd. You are unstoppable.

Phoenix 12-06-2010 10:46 AM

you need to know the maps better probably.

there are all kinds of hiding places.

also what is your style of play?

when i play normal core, i run everywhere, you can get shot five times and still live and kill the other person..lol

in hardcore, its like real life one bullet from an ak 47 and you are pretty much done.
so i move more carefully

I miss the Half Life/Counterstrike days. It really felt balanced.

These days the games move wayyyyy too fast --and you have to remember that the younger you are, the more time you have. Kids play that shit all day and night, and that's usually all it takes to become a master.

I don't play any multiplayer in these modern FPS shooters. I get too frustrated because as soon as I pop my head out I get nailed 50 times, and I never see the shooter the majority of the time.

One tip I can give is to always shadow a teammate, and wait for them to get popped.

bronco67 12-07-2010 06:57 AM

Is anyone else pissed at the false advertising of Black Ops? When you watch the TV ads it appears to be set in modern times. The back of the box has almost no description of what the game is about, just cool pictures.

When I got the game home, I find out its set during the Cold War/Vietnam -- and some WW2. It was still a decent single player campaign, but some sneaky marketing on their part.

Jon Oso 12-07-2010 07:00 AM

I'm typically top 3 in every match I play, but I play PC version of COD4...

Occasionally though, I'll just get my ass handed to me on certain servers and I'll have 50 deaths and like 2 kills opposed to 100+ kills and half as many deaths.

I played MW2 on Xbox I think and I was horrible at it.

PR_Glen 12-07-2010 07:11 AM

i hate playing online for that very reason, competition is nuts... they make the game so fast its completely unrealistic. Men don't run that fast, they get tired, they trip, they miss... still pretty fun mind you but i'd play paintball over that anyday.

I once went 15 and 1 on Nuketown in TDM while run and gunning the whole time.

However, I have to admit it was back when the spawn points were flawed :winkwink:

CIVMatt 12-07-2010 07:50 AM

Exactly work on completing your upgrades, don't just run around pointlessly. I'm top 3 every game.

I'm averaging 1.64 Kill/Death ratio nowadays, but it took forever to get there. My Kid does 2.50 when he's dicking around, but I've watched him go 50-60+ kills and less than 10 deaths on Black Ops with the Gallil.

Sometimes, it's your gear setup. My best and only way I play Black Ops setup is:

AK74u with Pistol Grip and Rapid Fire
Perks: Warlord Pro, Ninja Pro, and your first whatever you want.

Watch your corners and don't run around like an idiot, let them come to you.

fatfoo 12-07-2010 09:23 AM

These computer games can sure become addicting.

ExtremeBank_Adam 12-07-2010 09:46 AM

I usually finish top 3 every game... add me.
