Players Ball a bust...
3 years in a row.
|
suck me beautiful. =)
If you go to the show, expecting to get treated like royalty, and being a dick, you won't have fun. The show was cool, D$ is cool, as always... So... kindly suck me, I'll make you feel like the princess you really are. |
i thought it was great
its all uncontrollable factors that cause an unpleasent experience live and learn |
Ronin, did you even go? Did you stay and watch the whole show? Or even the opening act?
I'll post some clips soon, you can take a poll from people who watch the clips. Why the player hatin'? You try to entertain your friends with a party, see how many people want to get into your party. I'll bet you'll be one of those people that player hate the whole thing til your buds are askin' you for Players Ball passes cause they've seen that special on VH 1. Blow me. |
im sure it was decent, but not my kind of crowd or music. Some of the pics looked like a bunch of wiggers at a high school dance.

C2K always Late...
Nothing new.... |

We only had our industry there and a few extras that knew the performers. So if our industry looks like that, I can't help it.
I'll make the next one invite only, possibly. Still brainstorming the options. One thing is for sure, it won't be like it's been. Can't please everyone anymore. You used to be able to please everyone. These days, too many newbies with high expectations and hanger on's. We'll cut the fat in the future. I just don't get why someone would bash the people who are out to entertain webmasters. It's one thing to throw an exclusive party and then tell people we're only letting in a few hundred people. I can understand bashing that kind of party for trying to make the rest jealous they can't go. If it seems they're rubbing it in the faces of those not invited. But when you invite everyone to have fun and party all night, why the hating? Even to those smaller parties, they deserve props and respect for their efforts in entertaining people as well. No reason to hate. What ever happened to good karma? |

reason i ask is because sometimes ill cross invest money in clubs and stuff - im bringing dj swamp to a local club here on friday. didnt know if anyone else was into stuff like that. |
sleazy throught your basic raves...

Thank you Sleazy.
Imagine having VH 1 give you your own special and they have you host it on the mic. An hour episode. Throw that into the evening. Not easy at all. Especially without a team of employees helping you. I give it 110%. When things outside of my control gets fucked up, I still take it personally because I want perfection. It can drive a guy crazy when someone else fucks you up like the security of the venue. So I take a deep breath and realize everything good that did happen. If the good far out weighs the bad, it's a major success. Am I a real promotor of concerts and parties. No. I don't profess to be either. I'm a webmaster like everyone else, looking to give myself exposure from a kick ass marketing technique, throw a party. People read into it way too much. It's just a party, not a contest of who throws the best party. Just have fun. Or don't go to parties. But bitching and moaning about a free party is crazy. |
D-money you did a fuckin killer job.. Good seeing you at the show. Taren says hi.
Party rocked my only complaint is that I walked out with 2 bottles or cristal.. haha shit happens man thanks for the party |

Hmm.. can't say I see why anyone would complain about a free party really.. it may not please everyone and there's always bound to be some glitches with a big event like that but who cares.. drink and be merry or go to another party.. its not like we weren't spoilt for choice this year!
The only complaint I have is that I didn't have one of those extra special sponsor vip passes, only a regular vip pass.. oh well next time.. *hint hint* :winkwink: |
D$ show was great.. just like all the rest and my hat off to those that went through the hassle and took the time to try and arrange something. Being a sponsor of one of the biggest parties at the show I know the C2K staff where not the easiest to deal with on some of their policies but still the shows where great.
D$.... Justin and I have some ideas for next year we wanted to run by you for the show and sponsoring so get back to me when you got a chance! Best to All; Craig Focus|Adult www.focusadult.com |

Having attended the original party and 2 subsequent ones, I agree 100%....the logistics and organizing take a certain special person to do, and D$ has done a great job over the years. Kudos to D$ and his Family for even trying to continue this tradition. Thats all for now..... |
Looks like not many people agree with Ronin
|
D$ I had a blast. My hats off to you for such a huge undertaking. I really look forward to your party, great way to end the show.I think you did a fabulous job you have come a long way baby and screw those who have nothing better to do than bitch. Let them try to throw such a huge bash. They should pay you to just be at such a cool event. :)

D-Money did an unbelievable job putting together this Player's Ball.
The night before CE sponsored the Gigamix party at the C2K. Thousands of people who were in line for Gigamix never got in and left. I almost got jacked up by security even though I was a major sponsor. The following day, D-Money and I had a meeting at 3pm with the management of C2K to try and make sure this didn't happen again. Again at 11pm we had a meeting with the management and all 35 security people. We told them this is a private party and they should chill their attitude out - obviously they didn't. I also greased 6 of the main security people, this didn't make a difference. The fact remains that when you try to get 6,000 people into a venue, while checking each person's ID thru two doors, it is going to take time. The C2K security failed us terribly two nights in a row. Still in all for the thousands of folks that did stand in line and got in, had a great time. It amazes me how folks who don't take the time to get into the Player's Ball knock it because of the issue of getting in. Digital Underground did an hour and a half remix of their material which was awesome. Then, Xzibit came out and rocked the house!! They were awesome!! There's absolutely no reason for folks to complain when they are seeing free entertainment that would probably cost about $100 per ticket if it was a public concert. There's no reason for folks who only saw it from the outside to knock it! There's no reason to complain that there aren't enough women. Afterall, our industry has many more males than females and it's their responsibility to bring women if that's what they want. We don't supply the entertainment and women, just entertainment!! I know I personally brought in 6 women with me and we had a great time!! Lensman and I were drinking Cristal and having a great time rocking to the groove!! Congrats to Lensman for Pimp of the Year honors!! There's no reason for folks who don't like this type of music to knock the event since that is their personal preference. To see this level of entertainment at no charge is pretty cool and we're happy to do it. We obviously can't control the security at C2K, so, guess what? Next year the Player's Ball will not be at the C2K. We'll make sure the venue we do use does not have a show (C2K's Lord of the Dance) that isn't over until 11:45pm. We'll make sure admittance starts around 8pm for Sponsor & VIP passes. That's all we can do, and we will do it!! When we see thousands of people having a great time rocking out to top entertainment, that's a good time!! All in all, if you braved the lines and got in, it was a great time and that's what we tried to do, entertain Webmasters. nuff said!! peace out!! |
I was too damn drunk and tired to make it, but I think
D$ should look at other types of performers besides hardcore rappers at each show. I think some rock or pop may be a welcomed addition :thumbsup New Kids Reunion...lol... just kidding... Actually, some old rockers from the late 80's would be cool, or even Sir Mix-A-Lot... Just some ideas... |
It's too bad all these great posts were under a thread called "Players Ball a bust".
FM said it perfectly. After several meetings with security, it's obvious they just said fuck you to all of us. After speaking with the President of the Venetain through several Venetain managament, they said C2K is in their last year of their contract with the Venetian. They assured me that C2K's current management will no longer run that place after this year and hopefully they can have our business again next year under the Venetian managed C2K. I said, hell no! The Venetain ultimately owns the building of C2K and won't take any responsibility for Heftel Entertainment, which owns the company that runs C2K. So guess what? Next year when they see their numbers drop, they'll realize exactly how much business a Players Ball brings both the venue and the hotel. I think they Players Ball will find a new home and make another hotel very happy when we start booking rooms for them from our website. Possible hotels include Mandalay Bay, Palms, and a few others. FM, thanks again for your continued support on these Players Balls. I hate when people call it my party, it's not just my party it's the sponsors party and CECash takes 95% of the credit. Without their contributions, we'd never be able to afford the talent line up we've continued to have. Big thanks also to MrSkin and my D$ Show crew for their involvement as well. I'd go on and thank all of the mini sponsors now too, but I'll save that for an upcoming thread. Meanwhile, what's Lensman doing with that big glass Woody? No one earned Pimp of the Year this year like Lensman. When I challenged people to tell me who else comes close, no one could even spit out another name as worthy, that's when I knew he was going to be the winner. And believe it or not, FM almost talked me into not giving him an award days before the Ball when I told him he was winning. What did I do? I pulled a C2K managament move by not listening and gave it to him anyway, like it or not! Finally, a Big Woody for FM without caring what people think, cause he's the main sponsor and all. These awards are not fixed, worthy winners should get them no matter what, sponsor or not. Anyone want to see more footage? I have the big Woody Awards on the way!!! Stay tuned.... |
I would have to agree with J.R. rap is not everyone's taste.
Other than that D$ is putting on a FREE (for the webmasters) show! Quit your bitching. If some one has gone to the players ball 3 years in a row and hates all 3, why keep going? :winkwink: |
D-Money thanx for the props :)
Every year Studio 54 calls me to ask if they can host our party. They do this because in the past we have had many parties there and they would love to do the Player's Ball!! I think we should talk to Studio 54 - we can get the venue early, like 8pm. This way, as folks start coming, they just walk in, no lines at midnight!! lmk what you think!! |
|
Studio 54 would be cool, but if we do live performers, I'm not sure how many people can see the show at the same time. Isn't it spread out? We'll talk to everyone and find a new home for this party. And an early starting time is a must.
We have had other artists perform then just rappers by the way. Eek-A-Mouse (reggae), Third World (reggae), Original P (Parliament Funkadelic minus George, funk music), Long Beach Dub Allstars (former Sublime members), DJ Sasha (electronic rave stuff), Fishbone (ska, funk, rock) and I'm sure I'm leaving out others. We almost had James Brown for this last one. We always try for a live band, but we take the best available artist for the budget. Kind of like a football draft, but with musicians. Also, I'm declaring a new day of the trade show for the next convention, either the first night or the second night, starting around 9:00 pm, give or take an hour. I doubt we'll try another pool party in Miami, the weather is too unpredictable. I'll be discussing this further with FM to make sure we select the best date, venue and time. Thanks to all of the other parties that went out of their way not to compete with our party slot, that's big time respect and it is appreciated. The least I can do is let others know our date well in advance to avoid conflict of party interests. |
aint no party like a d-$ party cuz a D-$ party dont stop!:thumbsup :thumbsup

Some of you may think the word "wigger" is not offensive. You use it because you think it's ok and you can get away with it. :321GFY It's bullshit your a bitch if you use the word. You need to stop sucking David Dukes dick, and think about what your saying and who you may offend...Capiche |
"aint no party like a d-$ party cuz a D-$ party dont stop!"
Don't be surprised if we get George Clinton and P-Funk to play next. 4 hours of non stop funk. Yeah-E-yeah! |

So, my take, don't use the word wigger or wigga. You my Caucasian? |
I too have to disagree with ronin.
D$, I've been to the last 4 player's ball and this was the best one yet. Great music, good fun, all the players were there and I just had a blast. I had no problem getting in and I thought it was less crowded than in years past, which was great. I did miss the chair throwing but that wouldn't have changed my opinion. D$ did a hell of a job throwing this huge gig and maybe if ronin and others went in with a better attitude, they'd enjoy themselves a little better. For god's sakes ronin, you've had a terrible time for 3 years and you keep going, what the hell is wrong with you??? Yan |

D$, Original P with Schoolly D would be cool. Eve, Knowa Lazurus, Busta is at my reach if needed. Do a celebrity basketball game with Pornstars, Directors, and Musical artist playing a little B-ball. Now that would be hot. If you need any help let me know. I still have some contacts over at MTV for some coverage of the event and still work closely in the music industry. Hit me on ICQ 147573683 |
I can actually see both sides of the argument. D$ stated the bad, and to be honest the only thing I can really see that wasnt that good was the timing. But he cant control what c2k does before his show. The doors opened late and X didnt even get to go on until what, about 4am?
But to anyone that complains, I do have a question for you. Were you sporting the sponsor badges? If not, you have no room to complain. Throw some money into the affair. D$ did what he could with his budget, and with a few more sponsors who knows how out-of-sight the party could get. Next time instead of bitching why not reach into your wallet and throw in some cash. After all, its the people that make the party. |
HI D,
Did the girl with the short black skirt and the purple bikini (the "chosen"one) come? I did not see her :winkwink: Say hello to your dad and thank him to help us out being a "judge"... |

D$, if you are so concerned with the language and certain words, then why do you and KB go around talking like dumb rappers using outdated phrases and trying to be cool?
Just relax and be yourself. No racist words, and no sick imitations of what you think the hip hop crowd is like. Isn't hip hop crap old and outdated? I think so. You and KB wore some interesting outfits at The Players Ball, but isn't it time for some GQ clothes? After all, it wasn't a Halloween Party, but from looking around the room, I thought I might be in a kindergarten dress-up affair. This kind of party just makes porn look more ridiculous. Time for some class. Your work is appreciated, but shouldn't you be trying to come up with not only a new venue, but new talent as well. One final word about the awards. If you planned ahead, you could have made certain that the award winners would be present, or at least prepare them so they could have someone there to accept for them. If you planned to give awards to Dokk and Meat, you should have given them! Those two individuals deserve them whether they are present or not. Have some interesting webmasters or pornstars accept them for the winners who can't make it. And for one final FINAL word, tell us who won the woodys before I beat you with my pimp belt!:thumbsup |
Quote:
I love feedback. First, we have done and will continue to do live artists, we have had class in the past. We just had Third World in Hollywood, remember? Far from thug rap. And C2K is done, never again. That, "if you planned ahead" part doesn't apply this time around. The venue cleary threw off the timing, so I told our winners in advance that it was either going to happen right before Digital Undergound or after, depending on how long it takes to get people in. After seeing it took a while, they could have been ready as I instructed. Then I announced on the mic several times for the winners to come to the stage. I can plan for hours and hours but that still won't move bodies to the stage. They'll be honored at a later Players Ball since we couldn't do it this time. And Dokk didn't even get inside the venue after seeing the cluster fuck outside. I don't remember even seeing Meat inside either. It's a fun award that just give good people the spotlight for a moment. If they're not present, we're going to shine the light at someone else. This time around we didn't give it to any other people because we ran out of time. Don't get the wrong impression of me, I love every kind of music. You'll see a Gap Band, George Clinton and P-Funk, Earth Wind and Fire, The Roots, Kid Rock and others before all is said and done. The timing is what determines the artists. Some are doing movies, some have a tour date scheduled, etc. But I promise, we'll have something for everyone, each Ball is different. When it's the January show, I prefer more hardcore rappers because it's a pimp and ho theme, but funk bands can happen at any time for that as well. Miami will be the alternate Ball, not pimp and ho themed. This will be classy with great music. Stay tuned I guess. |

"D$, if you are so concerned with the language and certain words, then why do you and KB go around talking like dumb rappers using outdated phrases and trying to be cool?
Just relax and be yourself. No racist words, and no sick imitations of what you think the hip hop crowd is like. Isn't hip hop crap old and outdated? I think so." You started off with a good argument then killed it by saying hip hop is old and outdated. Funny how the "Up in Smoke Tour" was the #1 money grossing tour of all time. We had Snoop and Xzibit both perform within the last year, both in that #1 tour. Both with big movie deals. Snoop had the #1 selling porn movie of last year, and his music career was just as good. Eminem is the biggest artist in the world right now. I guess hip hop is real dead. In the past for the first Players Ball or 2 I spoke with lot's of slang and soon after I was stereo typed. Since then I haven't used much slang at all, just being myself. I do swear though, that's part of letting loose and being me. I think people who don't like that kind of music player hate the whole thing, which is their take, and that's cool too. To each their own. |
If I was a player, I have a ROCKER'S BALL.
