What cam software do the big cam sites use?

LiveJasmin, Webcams.com, Cams.com

What software do these guys use?

Do any software providers have a 720p solution currently?

:thumbsup

Cant speak for them but our cams are custom built by our inhouse developers.

Bump for everyone looking for the best cam software.

A 720p resolution sure sounds high quality. I think it is rare.

Hi Xenglo,

Each of the video chat companies has built their own custom program. They may share a common base such as Flash, but otherwise we have each built our own platforms on top of them.

If you wanted to build your own it's not impossible. It may be time consuming and expensive but not impossible. You could start by going to Adobe.com or Wowsa.com to look up streaming servers if you want to go the Flash route. A competitor to flash known as HTML5 is still in its infancy but is showing promise. LiveCamNetwork used to be build around Windows Media Server which in my opinion is better quality than Flash, but has a few limitations.

Building your own definitely has its advantages. First you can build it to work exactly the way you want it to work, and if you like programming like we do, the process is actually quite fun.

As for Will76's comments, well I guess he's entitled to them. All I can say is that for years I wanted to win that award, and every year it always went to one of our competitors. When we finally won it was a genuine thrill. I showed off the award all night and guarded it with my life. It's unfortunate Will that you don't have an appreciation for Xbiz. They've been a big boost to our business especially in the past year. If what you do fits into one of the Xbiz award categories I would hope that you win. It's actually quite nice all the way around.

Cheers!

What the award means to you is all that should matter to you, I personally don't put much stock in them.

btw. I think you meant Wowza: www.wowzamedia.com

because wowsa.com goes to "will's office world". :winkwink:
