Yes I spent a lot of time on that which is reflected in a pricing of around $500 for something similar depending on the amount of information, animation, length etc..
Part of my rationale for this was to really set it apart from the Swish animators and produce a quality piece, which meant actually brainstorming and planning the piece out - the sort of thing in a mainstream business I would have storyboarded for a client meeting.
Then actually going out to local sand flats and taking photos of water pool bottoms in the right perspective, taking photos of the cafe.. cement bricks - I actually shot some aquarium footage on DV to include some awesome fish animation, which was cut for filesize reasons.
then the attention to detail - the muzzle flare reflection in the cafe window glass that moves in sync as it writes "$20".. the darker bottom picture frame reveals once the "$20" glass has fallen out.. the "window" shuddering with each bullet.. ripping paper and photographing it to get a nice tear.. shadow alignment on the cement.. that sort of thing.

I've been doing flash and multimedia for a long time... I lectured it for two years and actually won the International Designer's Network (idN) "best entertainment website of '99" with a flash site for United Distilleries Limited's Lemonruski.com.. back when we could charge 45K for a site :)

-Sorry if it seems like im big noting or anything but I don't usually participate in these threads or "sell" myself too much.. I do a bit of stuff word-of-mouth and feel I have to justify my prices which might be higher than the Swish kiddies but are still actually fairly low.

PS. Look out for some cool large format porn flash ads I'll have out soon.

I know, I know... - trust me - with the last company I worked for we would use $2000 in wages for the first meeting just to discuss a project.. even now without the overheads of a large company it would be AU$1500-AU$2000 for the job minimum.. but the adult world is a out of step price wise - you can't pay more than a few grand for a whole paysite design even if you wanted to so clients aren't accustomed to normal mainstream prices, and mainstream guys don't inhabit forums where there is someone from yugoslavia willing to do it for $5 posting next to the guy down the block that needs $500 to break even.
I do still charge too cheaply.. I guess it's because I don't have a lot of name recognition - I don't participate in those "every designer leave your contacts and line up for this job" threads.. don't spam.. I've been here well over a year - if it wasn't for my sig most people wouldn't have a clue I design and flash as well as the rest of it... I get a fair amount of work from clients referring other clients to me..

I'd actually seen a lot of the sites that the company bhutocracy worked on, well before i even became aquainted with him. They were without a doubt, the best design company in Australia, and their portfolio was nothing short of incredible. Very, very big name clients.

thanks for the good words man, yeah in design, the money is in mainstream.. I do both.. but adult is good steady work I don't have to hop in the car with the presentation laptop for :)
