as gross as this sounds, you kind of have to push the hair up. My friend used to get them on his chest all the time and he would usually have to push the skin around before the hair would come up. =x

(yes, i've seen him do it, yes its gross, and it looks like it hurts. lol)

hahaha good stuff.
If there is a bump around it, try to uhm.. pop that? (ewww...)
Then the hair should come up.

I can't believe I'm giving this sort of advice.. :helpme

Bastards aren't they...

My husband has very sensitive skin and frequently gets ingrown hairs on the underside of his chin. Only way to get them out is to wait until they are long enough to pluck. This means putting up with the pain and annoyance of the 'pimple' that forms over top of them though until you can get the tweezers on them.

:2 cents:

PostWhore 01-14-2003 08:16 PM

cut the skin out

lilmia 01-14-2003 08:17 PM

aww you guys are so mean..

scalpel, tape and cutting the skin off? :(

some_idiot 01-14-2003 08:53 PM

Only sure fire 100% method is going out to the back shed and getting the rusty chainsaw. ...or wait until they pimple and push them out.

You can buy special tweezers that have a needle point that can reach under the skin and grab them. I bought some for KC since he gets ingrowns and he loves them.

You can get them at beauty supply stores or places like Sephora .

Beastie... next time gently stick a needle into the bump and keep popping it up... the thing will raise up sooner or later and then pull it.

The hubby had a bad one when he got back last spring... I watched him thread a needle and ram it right thru and pull about a foot of thread thru with it...

YeeeOOOOwwwtttch is all I could say. He just grinned and pulled a hair about 3" long out. The thread caught it. You know how the hair coils up. rotfl

And this is the same man that refuses needles for meds!

Juicy, just use the curved head of a bobby pin and pop each one up easily. If you don't have one, I'm sure one of the guys hear can lend ya one, just burn it in alcohol first. :Graucho

in the UK there is a cream for women to help with ingrown hairs from shaving the bikini area. Perhaps there is something in the states? The cream usually clears it up in two days.

no no no... dont pluck because that only damages the root and folicle, and will cause it to be ingrown again. popping it, like a zit, will only cause it to get worse as well.

go to the store.. like a drugstore, and buy some of those shower gloves.. you just need to exfoliate the area. :)

What? Thats nonsense. When I got a 5 inch hair coiled up in my neck, Im not gonna gently lay it out and exfoliate the area. Im ripping that bitch out, studying it, maybe even stick it to the mirror. Then squeeze the area until only water comes out.

I am not exfoliating an ingrown ball hair. Its amateur surgery time.

this is true because most people don't know how to properly pluck a hair and end up damaging the follicle. Of course, most follicle damage results in the hair never growing back. an ingrown hair tends to happen more when people shave,

nevertheless, exfoliation (not scrubbing till raw) is the safest way to get an ingrown hair out of it's coil. that is, unless the area surrounding it becomes infected from the build up of sebum. the needle tweezers are the solution when the ingrown hair develops a "whitehead". pull the hair out fully and gently and disinfect the area afterwards.

slaphappy 01-15-2003 07:51 AM

As stated earlier, get yourself a needle. But be sure that you get a lighter and burn the needle so you can sterilize it. With the needle, prick the ingrown hair and normally a pimple will form or you can squeeze the living shit out of it and get it.

Good Luck
