Who has been to Tokyo / Japan? Need recommendations.
 

I have always had good experiences with GFY recommendations so I will try once more.
I am going to spend 10 days in Japan of which I plan to spend 4-5 days in Tokio (should be enough to get a good idea of the city).

any recommendations on which other cities / sights to visit outside of tokyo for a 1-2 day trip for example?
which Tokyo club is a must-party location?
any other tips?

I went there last summer and recommend you purchase a Japan Rail Pass http://www.japanrailpass.net/eng/en001.html before you arrive and take the bullet train (I think 2 1/2 hours trip) to Kyoto for a couple of days and then Kyoto to Osaka (30 minute by bullet train) and spend couple of days before returning to Tokyo.

Yes, the JR pass is a great deal. Kyoto is beautiful and a must-see, and I really liked Hiroshima and found the people there a little less reserved than in other cities. But it's a 5+ hour bullet train ride from Tokyo and may be a little far for you to travel.

hit up the Park Hyatt Tokyo where they shot Lost in Translation.

stay in an apt. tower in Akasaka filled with fashion models and hit the bars in Roppongi, roll balls at rave till 9 AM with a stunner hostess from New Zealand you just met at one-eye jacks, drag her back back to your room, bust 2 nuts then catch a noon flight to Hokkaido for some surf...

I was there for 1 week in Tokyo City, in Shinjuku, alone, with no info

I didn't find much hehe. Eat some raw sushi that is literally moving on your place :) (i vid taped it)
I hitup a Kabukicho hostess bar, spent $30 for 1 lady drink then bounced the fuck outta there
Bought some real Maria Ozawa dvds too

It's a tough country to get around and do things, if you don't have a plan, a guide, or a friend who knows his shit there imho

Check out the palace :thumbsup Also.. depends on where you fly in... ie.. From Narita you can hit up their version of Disneyland, on the way in, as well. Also.. watch out for the 419-style Nigerian scammers hitting you up in the younger entertainment district. Lol.
