Me, too... and it had never made any sense to me.

i mean adolescent stall-kicking over ideas one doesn't agree with like religious and political ideas and beliefs. sad that some people can never overcome the negative influences of their childhood.

My husband has a friend that was in desperate need of money a few years ago. He is the most insane, bible beater I've ever met in my life. Literally every single word that comes out of his mouth is Jesus or God this or that. Well he needed money to keep his lights on and it was close to Christmas, I refused to loan it to him but I gave it to him for Christmas, I sent him like $200. Everything was fine, he was glad to have his lights on and so on.

Well, a few months later, it hit him, the money I gave him was porn money..... yes, this Christian took money that I made working in porn to pay his light bill. Anyway, he came to my husband and felt so bad about taking my money, my dirty money that he wanted to express this to him, what an ungrateful prick and hypocrite, huh? It gets better... so he starts a movement in Nashville to get porn banned from the internet..... we all see how that worked out for him.

But this is exactly why I hate Christians, not all of them, but the hypocrites!! And sadly, this is what we hear so much about, the Christians that want to judge, when the bible says not to, the ones that look at and take porn money and then come back and say how bad it is and it should be banned....... in public!!

Incidentally........ as bad as he felt about taking my porn money? He never one time offered to pay it back or send it back or anything! lmao

I don't and never have... I've thrown him out of my house so many times it isn't funny. He is one of, or should I say WAS, one of my husband's best friends. But I think now it is more out of loyalty than anything. He doesn't "like" the guy anymore, but they've been friends for so many years. I think now he more feels sorry for him than anything.

I don't mind Christianity, I am totally fine with that, but I also don't go poking bears, I keep mine to myself and I don't get into a religious..... OR a political discussion with anyone, not for any amount of money. lol My God isn't as judgmental as some people's is. :1orglaugh:upsidedow

The purpose of religion is to wield control over those who are unable or unwilling to use reason.

As such it has an important place in society, since there are so many ignorant sheeple who need someone to herd and fleece them, and most importantly to keep the pitchforks and torches reserved for extreme situations.

But if you can wake yourself up out of that then you don't need it and it becomes a danger to free thinking and an even bigger danger to free living.

Religion is boring.

It's kind of cute watching you grow up and go through things like political outrage and now Religious turmoil.

I can't wait until you get a little farther with Human Sciences and start to realize that organized religion is pretty much required to advance a society past savage tribalism (see Africa). Religion of some sort develops in all sufficiently advanced societies independently of outside influences. Many people are starting to believe that it is hard wired in to us as an evolutionary tool. I don't want to get too far ahead of your Social Studies class though so I'll stop now.

In the beginning God created man - later man decided to return the favor.

Religion was man made, so don't point fingers at god for man's attempt to manipulate other men using fear and faith as a means of control. It's been done for centuries. What is actually humorous is your argument is the same as Jesus had against the religious groups at the time he was around - yelling at them for similar reasons but adding oppression to women - worshiping of political leaders as gods and murdering of innocent lives for the religion of the time then abandoning those with leprosy by making them live in caves and segregated areas. He actually went in and healed them.

People saw leprosy victims the way we saw Aid's patients today. Jesus never shunned them - so again - blame man made religion and not god for all the crap today done in the name of God.
