eBay Drops PayPal

I haven’t used eBay for two years now. But I just received an email that says I have to add a bank account for payments. PayPal is no longer an option.

I thought that eBay bought PayPal years ago.

Anyone know about that? It’s not a scam email. I went to eBay and manually entered my information.

This is huge news if true. I can't really believe eBay will shelve PayPal.. I mean, what are they thinking.

Is it because ebay is now losing money or what is the decision behind it?

They have replaced PayPal with Ayuden I think it is. A foreign money processor that is fussy about letting you join.

Just weird that I received the email now if this is old news.

I bought two items from Ebay last night and I used Paypal....

I'm only guessing, but to me it looks like paypal's days are coming to an end.
All the money transfer apps are destroying the old school processors.

Recently I've started using Ebay again because of all the scams on FB's
Marketplace.

Got a list of the most popular money transferring apps?

I doubt ebay ever gets rid of paypal entirely.. they might try to add another option but Paypal is still by far the biggest boy in the game. I do remember something a couple years ago about a different type of relationship ebay was going to have with paypal moving forward.. not sure in what regard exactly.

But a bit like a separation of church and state from what I can recall.

The entire customer base is gone when paypal is gone.

I liked the protection Paypal gave me when I purchased on eBay. Can't imagine it being replaced. I would really think twice about buying something with a regular CC processor. That might be the final nail in the coffin for eBay.

yeah, Paypal makes Ebay "the Ebay".
I wonder how they gonna resolve order disputes with regular cc purchase. That will be a nightmare for both Ebay and customer.

You do realize, one of most popular money transfer apps, venmo , is owned by paypal ?

Yeah i only noticed about a month ago when i sold my PS4 on ebay. So the transaction goes through, and before you see any evidence the money has been paid you have to send the item....then it takes up to 10 (yes ten) days for the money to appear in my bank account.

Strange.

Seems people who haven't updated eBay can still pay for using PayPal...

Oracle Porn 05-24-2021 04:43 AM

entire thread is full of confused people....

ebay is getting rid of paypal on the SELLERS side, not the buyers side. You can still buy items on ebay with paypal.
But, if you are selling, you will no longer receive the funds via paypal.

And the oracle has spoken :thumbsup

probably too many people being shafted from thieves. This way, Ebay will pay the seller. A good thing for sellers :2 cents:
