Anybody here using Windows 10 fully now?

What are your thoughts?

I just had to order a PC for my mother and it has win 10 but she is used to Win7 ... and thinking of just swapping out the main HD and installing Win 7 for her...

Let me know first hand what you think of it and if its "senior" friendly lolo

It is crap. I tried it for all of 10 minutes and thought to myself, how fucking shitty can this possibly be? Then I did about another 5 minutes and ended up installing Windows 7.

My daughter has it on her laptop and she thinks it is great. But then she never used Windows 7. It just might be that for those who are technically challenged it actually is better than Windows 7.

Hmm... I wonder if somebody has a simulator for it online. Might see if my mom would prefer it. She is quite the nag with Windows 7.

I use it on my new laptop, but use 7 on my main work station. It's ok to use, atleast it's better than win 8

j3rkules 10-15-2015 05:48 AM

I have installed Win10 on 4 of my laptops [2 Win7HomeP, 1 Win7Pro, 1 Win8.1], plus 2 Win8.1 tablets, and my Win7Pro desktop without any major teething problems. I don't use any of the Win10 'applications' other than games; killed all the live tiles. All running smooth as silk using my usual browser and media software.

Will never use Windows 10 ...

anexsia 10-15-2015 07:31 AM

Been using it since release (and before that as a Windows Insider) - it's awesome - I'm dual booting Windows 10 Pro and Debian 8 and love it. Windows 10 is a much better version of 7 and I've installed it on old systems and it still runs fast as hell.

wehateporn 10-15-2015 07:39 AM

I plan to be on Windows 7 until 2025

Serge Litehead 10-15-2015 08:27 AM

loving win10, no issues whatsoverer, runs very smoothly, no annoyances.
after win10, win7 feels like win95 after running XP

Same here

I swapped all Win7 machines over to Win10, just did an upgrade. Had zero problems so far and it's been a couple of months already.

Most of em actually run faster in Win10 than in Win7 :thumbsup

I use it right now and well.. it is operating system and it doesn't get me pissed off that often.. so, job well done. I don't need to use all the shit attached into it, so I can't speak for all the gizmos in it, but for basic use it is OK.

bloggerz 10-15-2015 09:03 AM

Loving windows 10 here.. I'm not sure about it being friendly for old people but it's quite simple to figure out if you wanted to teach them.

I love how they re-added the start menu (hated this about windows 8) and windows 10 is lightning fast for me. No complaints so far!

Sly 10-15-2015 09:05 AM

I moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on all of my PCs. Works fine. Mom will have no problems.

Rochard 10-15-2015 09:29 AM

Let's see.... All four laptops are running Win8, as is my backup PC. No issues. I'm old school PC; I remember the time when we used to hack Win95 to change it.... but these days an O/S is an operating system; Install it, use it, move on. More or less they are all the same.

I have a Windows Surface Pro 3, which is like a tablet hybrid, just bought it, and it came with Win 8. However, on a tablet / laptop hybrid like the Surface, Win 8 made perfect sense. I just moved that over to Win 10 and it's workable.

Last up will be this main PC, which I will do this weekend.

I like it okay. Put it on my parents computer. If your parents are like my parents, All they use their computer for is printing a document, copying pics from the camera, and browsing the net. They are happy as long as they see the desktop shortcut to a browser, open office, and file explorer.

loreen 10-15-2015 10:26 AM

I don't like to mess with something that works, so I'm still on Win 7 :)

MakeMeGrrrrowl 10-15-2015 10:27 AM

I was using 8 and now I'm using 10. I like em both just fine.

Both of my parents have a LITTLE trouble using, but win 10's start menu is more like the old windows, so that's a plus.

MrBottomTooth 10-15-2015 10:32 AM

Nothing wrong with 10. It was 8 that had the horrible interface issues that was borderline unusable for me.

Plus you can still use classic shell on 10 if you really want the old 7 experience. But I don't find I need to anymore. Only thing I didn't like about 10 after getting used to it was how they tried to hide the old style control panel. But it's easy enough to get it back if you want it.

AllAboutCams 10-15-2015 10:49 AM

Yes and i love it went straight from 7 to 10.

mineistaken 10-15-2015 11:05 AM

win 7, do not fix what is not broken guy here.

incredibleworkethic 10-15-2015 11:07 AM

10 here no problems. :)

mineistaken 10-15-2015 11:08 AM

Plus all the additional spying (had to be mentioned since nobody, surprisingly, did).
Well, wehateporn, probably had this in mind :)

VSKevin 10-15-2015 04:56 PM

Definitely disliked 8, updated to 10 and am happy so far!

If Windows 7 is not good enough one day, I have to move back to Linux

MiamiBoyz 10-15-2015 05:15 PM

Quite extraordinary actually. I upgraded on day one and have never looked back.

I actually love it! Much less spying on you than Apple does...the only difference is that Microsoft is upfront about it and allows you to opt-out via setting what you want them to have access to.

Not a single crash and I am running on laptop a system from 2012 i7 cpu, 16 gigs ram, 1 TB hd, dual monitors...flawless performance.

I will never go back to Win 7. Worked on a friends machine running Win 7 and seems like a toy compared to Win 10.

I remember there was one or few spying settings that were being turned back on even if you turned them off.

And upfront would be off by default, not on by default. :2 cents:

At least they do give you a choice if you are intelligent enough to understand the basic operation of the OS.

Windows 10 is intended to be an on going evolving OS which is adaptable with different devices and while some of the information is for analytical use to improve the OS much of it is used as Google...Apple...Amazon...Netflix (see a pattern here) etc...uses to target marketing tailored to your interests.

Again, those can be customized but of course they are on by default and that is the setting that actually benefits the vast majority of the users who do not have a clue about the OS and just want it work and have problems with those settings.

Is there a work around for changing your screen size in windows 10?

Try and change it and see if it doesn't make you close out all your apps.

I'm still using Win 7, it seems like they changed the newer version for n00bs of PCs..

I've been a Mac guy a long time now and love OSX, but I have to bite the bullet and now buy a PC with Windows 10 for a new application we're working on. UGH, I'm dreading having a Windows machine anywhere near my nice pristine Mac's. :) At least the machine will be an Alienware beast so it will at least look awesome.

Like the vast majority of Apple users looking "awesome" seems to be the major concern.

Personally I think that Apples hardware quality has been steadily decreasing with each year.

All of their stuff is now produced just for the short term as they have now conditioned their loyal "users" to unquestionably upgrading when ever they change the location of a button which is why they have so much cash...they certainly are not spending that on build quality.

Their cash cow iphone is such a piece of shit that they now simply have you buy a new one each year for fuck sake! $$$ :1orglaugh:1orglaugh
