imagine how panic-stricken he's going to be when the world population is 15 billion... and the worlds most populous & developing nations are many times more reliant on coal and oil. driving an electric car is just a simple minded persons way of doing just enough to give themselves a daily dose of self congratulations while dissociating themselves from their EQUAL role in an ever growing problem.

I'm for smart deregulation and cutting red tape. In California we have some stupid environmental laws that were created by people on a climate crusade who seemingly wanted to get brownie points and be part of the "I'm saving the planet" gang.

Real stupid shit like this: I found an injured hummingbird last year, took it home and was nursing it back to health. I called a local bird sanctuary for advice. The guy was really cool and said he could give me advice in person and to bring the bird, I thought that was weird but whatever. So I drive out there and we start talking and he's like "legally I have to take this bird from you because it's illegal for you to have it in your possession due to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act" I was like cool! Because it was time consuming feeding it every 20 mins.

Then he said that they were short staffed and it would likely die because they are high maintenance. Then he said I was cool and to please not tell anyone, then examined the bird and gave me awesome advice and handling tutorial for about an hour. We broke the law. Stupid!

This executive order from Trump is equally as stupid because it states the premise of the executive order is to "start a new era of production and job creation."

For those who don't know, the EPA Was created "...for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress"

Trump is using the "jobs" buzzword for dumb dumbs, what he's really doing is axing most of the EPA to start a new era of industrialisation with little regulation. This won't impact California but I feel REAL bad for people in redhats states where the state doesn't give two fucks about water/air quality, the EPA stopped a lot of bad characters from setting up shop.

Trump is bypassing congress with this EA because in 1990 they passed the The Pollution Prevention Act so it will be interesting to see what happens. https://www.epa.gov/p2/pollution-pre...w-and-policies

Democrats took over the shithole fucked industrialized cities the Republicans were done exploitinting for money. They are an example of irresponsible Republican industrialization.

Look at Flint with the Republican mayor wanting to save money by switching the water supply, without telling residents, from the lake to the corrosive polluted waters of Flint River giving 90,000 people led water.

That is completely the point. A planet of 15 Billion people will need alot of energy. Clean energy is cheaper, more abundant, more profitable, and can employ more. Clean energy means a better environment, less flooding and drastic weather, so more crops can grow and more food is available to everyone at a lower cost. Do you not think that maybe, just maybe, it would be a good idea to start planning for that future now?

You know that it's not just electric cars anymore, right? There are EV busses on the road now, and Ford is making an F-150EV, and a Hybrid Mustang. Harley Davidson is coming out with a sick EV bike in the next year or 2.

Driving EV is nothing to do with self-congratulations. People who think like this are the same people who put loud exhaust pipes on tiny shitbox cars to make them sound like a race car. It's all about how big they want people to think their cocks are.

Instead, it's everything to do with math and economics. Electric cars are more efficient at getting people from A to B. They don't pollute, they're quiet, and they are cheap to "refuel". If you're a car nut, you may appreciate that they are even fun to drive, and faster than most other cars on the road too.

1 person driving an EV won't make a difference. But if 50% of passenger cars can be electric, that's a HUGE difference.

Mark, DirtyDon´s creditable rating´s dropped to an all time low!

One Monday, his approval rating fell to 36% after House Republicans failed to pass their repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

This must be bruising his ego, it´s a new low for the president's young tenure.

Trump has to be the worst leader in US history. He was voted into office by his cult like followers to repell Obamacare and having both majority in the house and Senate he failed to do the deal...

Absolutely and I say that as a Great Grandfather.

Also if anyone spends 20 minutes of research they'll discover that all our problems come from the crap built by the "innovators." They invented the plastic that's killing our oceans.. They invented nuclear power with its billion year waste products... they invented the pesticides and genetically modified food.

Sooner or later this "sustainable" technology is going to prove to be pretty damn unsustainable and society will collapse. That's when everyone will be back to living on dirt farms trying to scratch out an existence. And at the very least everyone in my family, including myself, know how to ride and care for a horse.

Are you sure you understand the question here?

Trump is giving carte-blanche to industries that will pollute, because it will create jobs.

That means that Joe-Blow somewhere will have a job, that adds poison to the air and water.

And that means that you are just fine breathing-in that poising, and drinking that poison.

And since you are a Grandfather (Congrats!), you are totally ok with your grandkids breathing and drinking poison too. Just because Joe-Blow won't find himself a better job.

Really? Really?

Please tell me why its better this way.

Plastic has all kinds of uses. It's lightweight and used absolutely everywhere. The inventors of plastic are not killing our oceans. It's the people who throw plastic away without care.

Nuclear power provides electricity to millions of homes. It heats homes in winter and cools them in summer. Coal kills 10,000 people per year in the US, and 170,000 in China. The global average for death by nuclear, including Fukushima, is only 90. In the US, death by Nuclear is 0.1 per year. (All of the above is deaths per Trillion Watts/Hr. Source.)

Both of which stop food from being lost or destroyed by pests. Yes I know Pesticides are terrible and I wish they didn't have to exist, and I sure hope I never get a iouthfull of the stuff.

One good way to avoid pesticides and GMO is to buy locally. Your grocery store may import alot of its food from far-away places. Don't buy it. Buying local makes a difference.

All of this polluting shit was NOT invented or built by the stupid simpletons like me. Everything from the nuclear bomb to genetically modified food was built by the so-called "smart people." In fact it's these smart people who are the smart asses that also cause all the problems in the world including war, genocides, etc.

I have had to live and survive in this world and the same goes for my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren. Even the porn industry has been destroyed by smart asses and my money isn't going to last forever. So what I want for them is to survive just like I did.

I actually get a kick out of you so I kind of like you and therefore please don't take this as me trying to engage you in a pissing match. But you're a troll and I'm going to go out on a limb here but I get the feeling that in real life you're pretty socially awkward. So you talk about how beautiful this world is but how much time do you really spend in it?

I've been in jail, almost died from an overdose, knocked up a couple of women and had the shit kicked out of me. But I've also hitched hiked the entire hippy trail, got stoned at the Monterey pop festival, participated in the 68 Paris riots and fucked both Claudine Beccaire and Seka. Therefore let me say I know first hand just how beautiful the world is and I really would love to do everything I did one more time.

You never knew that you needed a tablet so thin that you could slice bread until some smart ass at Apple computers convinced you that you did.

No one ever asked you what you wanted and they never gave you a chance to learn about your options. Instead they just found ways to make gullible and the fearful people believe that their lives were going to somehow be better if they purchased their shit. Unfortunately in doing so they also made the world into a sort of dictatorship where anyone that just wants to survive needs to purchase their stupid crap because everyone else is using it.

Trust me if I could... I would love to walk away from all this fucked up bullshit and go live in harmony with nature. But unfortunately some cocksucker on a powertrip would locate me with a drone and armed cops would come to chase me off.

You've clearly made some life altering fucked up decisions but overall you're that typical stereotype of a lost, dying and mostly dead (THANK GOD!) generation.

Old fucks like you love Trump because he has the same mentality as you, Fuck future generations I'll take what I can at any price people like you have destroyed our future Fuck off we don't care what you think.

Your generation has fucked up this planet! You take take take from our treasury to stay alive while letting the insurance companies enslave my generation, just so you can all live a few more miserable years.

My parents generation looked up to the one before them for maintaing a functioning society with stability for the future.

Your generation has fucked all of us! The least we can do is stop your disability payments, military payments, social security & medicare and any other benefits. You haven't earned these benefits by stealing from my generation to fortify a system you've robbed out of greed. I have paid into SS all my life, so has my son, and it will be gone if I live long enough to retire ITS BANKRUPT because of YOUR GENERATION. My son & I are working to support you who left us with no stability for the future Fuck off. We are all paying to provide you with something we'll never have and you don't deserve it!

Then you come on a message board created by my generation bitching about new technology & IPads and crap trying to stamp out the few bright possitive dynamic people here and acting like you're doing him a favor by calling him a troll then spewing your shit Fuck off.

Then again you could be some fuck in the Philippines paid to post pretending to be the character you are.

Just wait to Trump mandates all pollution directed to Montreal just to troll you harder.

So much idiocy in one thread.

Smog is not caused by CO2.

Pollution is not caused by CO2 / CO2 is not pollution.

Warming is not caused by (man-made) CO2.

CO2 is not harmful.

Trillions are being spent on reducing CO2 but barely anything is being done to stop real pollutants, environmental destruction, deforestation and over-fishing.

Climate change will happen with or without our input. Best to spend that money adapting to it and reducing actual human damage to the environment.

:2 cents:

Electric cars and bicycles aren't going to make any kind of difference. They still require manufacturing processes to make them and there's more than enough toxic substances in these them too.

This is just one of many "OH MY GAWD THE END IS NEAR" shouts that I've heard in my lifetime. Well I was Chicken Little back in the 50s and 60s but I've since then learned. The sky isn't falling and the establishment is full of shit. Personally I would wipe my ass on a computer because I've watched it destroy our freedoms... the small business man... and the intelligence of the average person.

What we need are good paying jobs, apprenticeship programs and strict discipline back in our schools. We used to be a much happier society despite the social problems we had.

I didn't say the world is going to end. I am asking you is a persons right to a job is more important that your right (and the rights of your kids and grandkids) to clean air and water. Is it?

But while we're on the subject let's be honest here...

All of this polluting shit was NOT invented or built by the stupid simpletons like me. Everything from the nuclear bomb to genetically modified food was built by the so-called "smart people." In fact it's these smart people who are the smart asses that also cause all the problems in the world including war, genocides, etc.

Ok. For the sake of this discussion, I'll agree with that, though I wouldn't call war wongers smart. But anyway, I get your point.

Would you then agree that if you see something that jeopardizes your survival or the survival of your kids & grandkids, that you should speak-up or do something about it?

Dude, we're just talking here. I've argued with all kinds online and drank beers with them in real life later. It's all good my friend.

Oh... so much for that beer then! :) Well sir, I strongly disagree. While it may be true that my posts sometimes(!) generate strong opinions from multiple sides of an argument, I follow up with my own opinions and beliefs and do my very best to back them up with facts. A real troll would just not bother.

In real life I'm shy and tend to be soft spoken perhaps, but I would never back away from speaking my mind.

You don't know me so I can forgive your impression of me. My first impression of you seems to be someone who just wants to "stay quiet", "give up", "keep your head low" etc, instead of argue or fight for what's right. Of course I am sure there's much more to you than my extreme over-generalization of you, just as there is more to me than yours. Fair?

So you talk about how beautiful this world is but how much time do you really spend in it?

I have a comfortable home, in a great, mostly progressive & liberal country. I'm 2 minutes away from a river where I jog or bike several days a week. There are geese and ducks flying around here who make the coolest sounds. I'm 60 minutes away from beautiful mountains with green trees and blue lakes. I work hard all winter so I can spend as much time outside in the summer as I can. If you've never experienced Montreal in the Summer, you have no idea what you're missing. (Babes. Babes everywhere. omg...)

Beauty is all around you, especially I'm sure, in your kids and grandkids eyes. Of course I'm sure you are at least seeing it there. Is that beauty not worth protecting sir?

But I've also hitched hiked the entire hippy trail, got stoned at the Monterey pop festival, participated in the 68 Paris riots and fucked both Claudine Beccaire and Seka. Therefore let me say I know first hand just how beautiful the world is and I really would love to do everything I did one more time.

That's awesome, though, I don't know who Claudine and Seka are.

So, you never needed a computer in your home until IBM (or Radio Shack, or Comodore, or Atari), convinced you that you did?

Unfortunately in doing so they also made the world into a sort of dictatorship where anyone that just wants to survive needs to purchase their stupid crap because everyone else is using it.

No. Apple and other tech companies made interesting items that they hoped people would buy. Apples advertising makes their products look cool, but I think they make them look simple and carefree. And isn't that what you want? A device that's simple to use?

You don't really need to do that. You have some money, a home, food, electricity, heat, friends, family. You are better off than 1.6 Billion other people in the world (Source). What I would suggest is that you take a few weekends off and go camping if you can. Seriously.

In fact, you should go by yourself. Catch a few fish, be quiet, and just think. If you can camp in the mountains, bring a small telescope and check out the night sky. Set an alarm to wake up at 3am, and then go sit by the lake. You will hear the forest begin to wake up about an hour before sunrise. It's the coolest most amazing thing, and it really helps you to "reset".

Drone pilots aren't interested in you. Flying a drone is a really fun hobby. You should try it.

Peace.
