#Brexit people - I have to thank you!

Thanks to the chaos and insanity the Brexit has caused, no other country will consider leaving the EU for a long long time :thumbsup

If this one ever happens, that is. :glugglug

The prime-minister was anti brexit and I wonder if she has set this up so they have no choice but to have a second referendum...

It's pretty clear there was Russian interference to confuse a vote. They should vote on it again.

not mentioning that this is a purely internal French problem which has nothing to do with the EU

Yes because every country wants to be just like France right now.

I hear the UK had their own protest last weekend.. Rumors of Canada in the beginning phases... It seems all of the Queen's subjects are growing angry.

Trump has killed the populist movement, as the midterm elections proved. People realised how hateful, divisive & power hungry populist candidates are once they get power and what weak leaders they are in actually running government. #ThanksTrump

By all means, please keep believing the 2016 propaganda of populist leaders we need more of you people to continue not voting.

8,000,000 more people voted Democrat than Republican in the midterm elections this year, a record! :thumbsup

see, we met before a couple times, you seemed like a cool dude

now were you hiding back then what you really think and someone like Trump as president makes you feel you can now also say all kinds of shit - or did you snap at some point over the last 1-2 years?

What we are seeing is the EU is prepared to make Europe poorer to keep their dream of a United Federalist Europe alive. No deal hurts Europe the same way it hurts the EU, farmers, car makers etc will suffer with a No Deal UK leaving the EU.

The World is bigger than the EU in all terms. The only thing that keeps it going is the belief that as one unit it can negotiate deals that small countries can't. Great for small countries, sucks for big ones that can negotiate quicker, better and more effectively.

Since being in the EU the UK has two options. Borrow beyond it's ability to pay back or austerity. Currently they are cutting back on spending and suffering, record poverty, stagnant wages, homeless in growing numbers, schools, hospitals, police, social services, etc are not getting the funds they need. Just the funds the country can afford to spend. The EU's answer amounts to "As bad as it is now, it will get worse if you leave to look for business abroad and try to go it alone.".

I hope at the next EU elections the people will go out and vote for MEPs to represent their best interests and not the interests of big business and bureaucrats.

The last person to come up with the idea of a united Europe was an Austrian in a German uniform. We all know how that ended.

Paul Markham 12-11-2018 05:28 AM

Stefan is right that this mess will scare other countries into toeing the line and not voting for what they want. Time after time countries have rejected the EU. Holland, France, Eire and now the UK. The UK would have rejected it earlier if, as he pledged, Blair held a referendum on joining the EU.

The growing party withing the EU are the groups who want to bring it down, now Italy had said no to the EU over it's spending policies. More proof the EU is undemocratic.

also I'd like to point out that "my country" is having trouble with refugees because "your country" keeps dropping bombs that make people flee but "your country" wouldn't let them in.

and instead of homing and feeding refugees in neighbouring countries, "your country" thinks that something like the UN (and UNHCR) are useless, dont send the money that is needed for that, and so the refugees move on before they starve to death.

that, my friend, is the reality.

but i want to educate you a bit with the quality of your source:

Quote:

The website has been described by several media outlets, including Quartz, The New York Times, New York, and the US and UK editions of Wired, as a hub for the alt-right.

Voat's Germany-based web hosting service, Host Europe (a precursor to Webfusion), shut down the service in June 2015 and alleged Voat "was publicizing incitement of people, as well as abusive, insulting and youth-endangering content" as well as "illegal right-wing extremist content". Voat's founder attributed the shutdown to political correctness. Voat also had payments frozen by Paypal due to "sexually oriented materials or services".Voat shut down four of its own subverses in response, two of which hosted sexualized images of minors ("jailbait").The website continued to accept donations in Bitcoin, and was able to continue functioning, as it had moved to a different hosting provider.

In August 2015, Voat became incorporated in the United States. Colo explained in a post announcing the incorporation that this was because "U.S. law by far beats every other candidate country we’ve researched."

In November 2016, more users relocated to Voat after Reddit banned the Pizzagate conspiracy theory subreddit citing doxing and harassment concerns.

In January 2017, Colo resigned as CEO of Voat, citing a lack of time available to devote to the site. Colo was replaced as CEO by Chastain.

In May 2017, Chastain ran a fundraising campaign, announcing that Voat might have to shut down due to lack of money.

In November 2017 some of Reddit's incel community moved to Voat after an incel community was banned on Reddit.

On Sep 12, 2018, Reddit banned several subreddits dedicated to discussing the QAnon conspiracy theory, stating that they had violated it's rules prohibiting "inciting violence, harassment, and the dissemination of personal information." This caused many of its users to migrate to Voat.
why did i not expect anything else from you ?

Yep, and I get the feeling a lot of the chaos and inaction in response to that is because our Conservatives have been as relaxed as the Republicans in the US when it comes to dark money.

Ultimately, I think it will have to come down to another vote, and this time it will be with the knowledge that we were attacked. I think May might be holding that card to the last minute, then when her "deal" falls through she'll make a televised announcement that the risk to the country is too great to go ahead with a no-deal Brexit, outline how we were attacked, play it off as "new evidence has come to light" etc.

Manfap 12-11-2018 09:00 AM

We are bombing Syria and Iraq because ISIS is trying to overthrow the governments. If 100,000s Muslims were living in peace, no one would be dropping bombs.

The entire reason so many Eurozone countries are in a mess is the fault of the EU. They launched the currency without any central control of spending and borrowing, then they allowed anyone who applied to have the Euro. This is the mess the EU created.

https://www.statista.com/graphic/1/2...roduct-gdp.jpg

When they can't launch a currency and keep control of it, don't even dream dream of controlling a continent.

What is clear from the previous link I post, is the EU is bad for most countries. They are all forced to borrow beyond their means to support the growing needs,

I'm not anti-migration. My Mother and Father, brother, cousin all migrated and me. But we had to make sure we were bringing in more than we took out. Low paid and unemployed migrants don't contribute.
