Maricopa County (Phoenix) Prosecutor Threatens Porn Arrests

http://www.xbiz.com/news/145588

To which I respond, with a case in his backyard:

A couple of years ago, some cops came into the Mission Palms during the show and made their presence known.

It just could get more interesting this year in Phoenix.

dgraves 03-13-2012 09:02 PM

how the fuck did new hampshire get on the porn map?

Always good times with NIkki in Phoenix... or anywhere.

Rochard 03-13-2012 09:58 PM

The Prosecutor clearly has no idea that porn is being made in his very back yard - most likely by his neighbors...

Porno Dan 03-14-2012 12:01 AM

The companies shooting in Arizona have been able to do for many years by being "under the radar".

Now, thanks to some misinformed porn talent running their mouth to the press that the porn industry is going to relocate to Arizona; there, is a likelihood that those companies are going to be prosecuted if they continue to shoot in Arizona.

dgraves 03-14-2012 02:05 AM

wouldn't porn be legal to shoot in the same parts of nevada where prostitution is legal?

how would cops bust a porn shoot? wouldn't they have to catch the offer/payment process?

Not just him but Amateur Allure shoots out of there as well along with Sundevil Models and many more. This is just grandstanding for the public during an election year. How can anyone take this douche's word seriously when many companies have been filming fuck flicks for a long time in his own state? Surely if there is any merit to these words then Paul and Nikki should be squarely in the cross hairs long before any new companies are targeted.

shimmy2 03-14-2012 07:46 AM

i film on a few indian reservations in arizona without problems, go there :thumbsup

ManuteBol 03-14-2012 07:53 AM

I have been to every Phoenix Forum since 2005 and I have never seen a Police Officer inside the Tempe Mission Palms. :2 cents:

Yes, probably. But, legal brothels in Nevada are condom manditory. May as well just stay in Los Angeles.

Has it occurred to you that reading the article could be of value?

"The Supreme Court of New Hampshire used the reasoning of Freeman and came to a conclusion quite friendly to the First Amendment and protected expression, concluding (though it's far less than certain that they were intellectually required to do so) that its prostitution statute did not reach paid videography because the prostitution statute in issue required a purpose of sexual gratification that had not been made out by the State."

Considering that Nikki has never shot a single hardcore production, I highly doubt he would be in anybodies cross hairs. :2 cents:

Do you think that will matter to the politicos who are grandstanding during an election year?

pornlaw 03-14-2012 09:20 AM

Here's a comment from the Maricopa County Attorney's Office spokesperson...

"To that, County Attorney's Office spokesman Jerry Cobb tells New Times, "There have been people doing all kinds of things are illegal, but not everyone's caught and prosecuted."

And nobody in the county's faced prostitution charges for porno appearances since Montgomery took over, Cobb says."

So they are tough on porn but soft on prosecution ?

porno jew 03-14-2012 09:22 AM

it's because it's all over the media the porn industry is moving there due to condom regs. they are just responding.

DWB 03-14-2012 09:23 AM

Welcome to my world. I've been shooting in various countries (and US states) where porn is illegal for 12 years.

Don't have a lot of sympathy for anyone because they have to use condoms. Deal with it or move underground. That's the way porn valley was many years ago when it started, may as well be a fitting ending to it all.

Uh...Yeah. Of course I do.

There are some good size companies shooting hardcore porn on a regular basis in AZ. Going after a guy who occasionally shoots some solo stuff would be FAR beyond stupid since there is nothing illegal about it.

The DA would want convictions or plea bargains. They are not looking to be embarrassed by attempting to prosecute something like this.

halfpint 03-14-2012 09:27 AM

Just go and film in the Bronx... wouldent suprise me if they make it illegal over here in the UK very soon with all the anti porn crap going on

MediaGuy 03-14-2012 09:34 AM

I never really looked into the definitions, but assumed backhandedly that performers are paid for the rights to the images, videos and recordings of the performances, regardless of the nature of the performances?

:D

I'm from New Hampshire, the / one of the / only "legal" places to produce porn in the U.S.

There are a few adult companies (including at least one well-known co.) operating there.

Live Free Or Die...

mikesouth 03-14-2012 09:36 AM

Porners aint moving anyfuckingwhere

for one they cant afford to for another no place else wants them.

dgraves 03-14-2012 09:48 AM

didn't the 2257 scare tactics start out like this?

As the English would say, "You are spot-on"

The more people in Nevada, Arizona, Florida and elsewhere brag about shooting porn and saying the porn industry should relocate there, the more likely they are to bring prosecutions upon themselves.

And what do you think would be the best way to exploit the issue during an election year?

In a campaign season that's all about how the Moral Right is voting in the presidential primary, where is this prosecutor's political advantage?

When the cops made a stir in the parking lot at Mission Palms a few years back with a bunch of vehicles, the local buzz was that a local TV station had done a feature about Phoenix Forum being in town and so law enforcement decided to make their appearance for public consumption. Nothing came of it.

So, they didn't come into the Tempe Mission Palms, they were in the parking lot.

I don't know for a fact whether they went in. I had the impression from what I saw that they did. I saw a bunch of empty marked vehicles, parked conspicuously and not in spots, and just a few cops walking around the east perimeter, some talking with attendees. Attendees were talking about it and that's how I heard the story about the news item on local TV.

baryl 03-14-2012 03:35 PM

I'm not sure of the exact Nevada/Las Vegas laws regarding porn production but there have been recent articles in the Las Vegas Sun basically welcoming the porn industry here.

http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012...oducers-las-v/

Interesting quote:
?We don?t issue permits? for porn productions, said Ed Harran of the Nevada Film Office. ?But if you shoot on private property, you don?t need permitting.?

Wrong again....

"Montgomery said the state law would prevent the establishment of a "pornography industry" to any degree."

Time to rethink the term solo when it means any pornography and sexual situations or acts... to ANY degree.
Solo masturbation is a sexual act. Therefor you will be prosecuted for these violations in Arizona. Its also in the works that porn will be soon be human trafficking.

dgraves 03-14-2012 07:08 PM

So, how are tubes going to steal our porn if we can't make it anymore?

My best guess is that he is up for re-election and pandering to his constituency

Quote:

The Arizona State Constitution, under Article 12, Section 3, provides for each county a number of elected officials, among them a County Attorney. The power and duties of the Maricopa County Attorney are enumerated throughout Arizona's Revised Statutes; specifically A.R.S. 11-401; A.R.S. 11-531 et seq.
We call it "blowing hot air" for the most part but he is correct; creating pornography in Arizona is a crime. As for the PheonixForum, the same thing goes on in Florida, they are happy to take this industry's money in tourism but maintain a hostile business environment for this industry's production -- hypocrisy triumphs ...

I have an idea..... Why don't you go to Arizona, shoot porn and test that just blowing hot air theory.
