What boosts your productivity?

Care to share 1 RITUAL that boosts your productivity?

For me, feeling grateful or closing my eyes and focusing on a proud moment clears away the brain fog.

What about you?

King Mark 11-26-2018 04:12 PM

Music and being left alone with no distractions.

Sly 11-26-2018 04:21 PM

I use a combination of Pomodoro, Habit-Reward Loop and Deep Work.

SBJ 11-26-2018 04:27 PM

A shower before work. Comfortable clothes and lots of bottled water.

pimpmaster9000 11-26-2018 05:03 PM

wake up at 6am....finish all your work early...

freecartoonporn 11-26-2018 07:10 PM

music, movies, tv series, web series, no distractions, good sleep, good poop.

mce 11-26-2018 07:56 PM

Here's a video on DEEP WORK. Thanks, Sly

bronco67 11-26-2018 08:22 PM

When I'm in crunch time and have to focus, I listen to any James Bond soundtrack by John Barry. You Only Live Twice and On Her Majesty's Secret Service are my favorites. It's weird but this music helps me get shit done.

Great song.

I always *thought* mood music worked for me but after testing, nope, complete silence after 15 minutes puts me in a deeper state.

"Boredom" in this regard is a good thing.

BaldBastard 11-27-2018 12:42 AM

Surround yourself with people making more money than you.

CurrentlySober 11-27-2018 02:49 AM

It's NOT a 'ritual'... Just simple maths...

The more I eat, the more I 'produce'...

Simplessss

I can't do that timer shit. I work differently. I just need something to set me in motion then I turn into a work monster for about ~24 hours. Stopping like that would frustrate me in evil ways.

I tried doing strict Pomodoro for a while and I think it's good to get the ball in motion and get "busy work" done and out of the way, but if you want to do serious work, it completely breaks flow. I don't see anyone doing serious work following the Pomodoro method.

I use it to get my morning started. After 1 session I'm in flow and ready to rock. That's when I kick into Deep Work and give myself a reward after a real project is complete.

What a Superb thread!

Peter Romero 11-28-2018 12:27 PM

I know this may sound archaic... but i need an egg timer and a hand written list to check off every day because and chart or graph on my screen will just stop me from working and I will spend more time obsessing on my lists than anything else. Plus it completely blocks my screen and stops me from working. Like GFY & this thread.

yuu.design 11-28-2018 12:38 PM

music, coffee, and more music

Not archaic at all.

Physical separation is great.

Digital lists get lost. Then you find yourself trying to find the list. Then you find the wrong list.

That is not productivity.

Whatever works for you. Work it.

I'm with you on this one....even though I'm working mainly digital, the one thing I keep analog is my "to-do" list. I have a whiteboard on the wall above my monitor with daily things to get done. It's always right there in my face.

Feels good to clean out that to do list.

Low carb diet (keto/carnivore). Carbs kill my energy during the day. Next is a bullet proof coffee in the morning. Later in the evening I’ll watch Netflix or YouTube while walking an hour or two on the treadmill, which helps a lot with sleep.

Farang 11-29-2018 11:53 AM

Getting a good sleep every night helps...

I always find if i´m finding it hard to get on with work I just get on with it...

the buzz of work always kicks in.

If you´re writing, just write that first word. If editing, just upload the vid on your decoder & like wise with any job in the world...

just get your ass up and get into it :thumbsup

I actually agree with this...

I like the idea of starting the day with a "SHOCK" that creates TUNNEL FOCUS: an ice cold shower

theS2O 12-01-2018 08:53 AM

For starter, I just think of all the bills and loans that needs to be paid every end of each month. Lol then working with a good music at the background. ;)

I like that deep work video. The thing that I saw most interesting were the rechargers. I think deep work is my favorite thing to do, but when I need a recharger... I choose the wrong ones... like the couch a bowl of chips, and netflix. Lol.

Anyway... rethinking rechargers for me is going to be fantastic. Thanks for posting that mce.

Hawkins 12-02-2018 02:08 PM

I love to work at night, no people makes me much more productive.
At the day time, no food (or no meat at lunch) is also making brain more productive, but this doesn't work on long distance.

Another day, another girl.

I also used Peter's idea of organising my days by writing in my diary what had to be done in coming days.

A good recharger for me is a hot shower.

True. That's why NETWORKING is so important. Even if you don't get deals from such get togethers, you get to be inspired.

If you are married, get divorced. There’s a lot of distractions, nagging, and spending wiped out in one swoop. :)
