If You Were At Phoenix Forum Check Your Credit Cards

Over the last couple of months I've had both my American Express and my Visa cards used by other people and had to have them replaced.

No, I didn't have them stolen and they were in my possession the whole time.

I knew that somewhere I had used them had gotten hacked.

And today I got a letter from Destination Hotels explaining that they had indeed been hacked and anyone whom had stayed at any of their properties between Jan. 1 and June 15 of this year had been compromised. And the Tempe Mission Palms is listed as one of the properties. :(

So that explains what happened with my cards. I suggest everybody who attended the Phoenix Forum and had a room and/or used their card on the property get themselves new cards immediately.

Also if you used you card at the bar at the Tempe Mission Palms. I didn't stay at the hotel but used my card at the bar, it got hit with a $5000 charge around 6 weeks ago

You gotta drink a lot of booze with a few friend to rakc a bill like that up at ABs ... unless of course they somehow got cash back...? Can you even do that at ABs?

st0ned 07-22-2010 05:32 PM

Oh that's just great...I was contacted by my bank numerous times after telling me that my card had been compromised, but I never actually went through my statements with a fine tooth comb. :disgust

I dont think in the same method here, but there were and usually are issues.

EDepth 07-22-2010 05:34 PM

Mine finally got hit yesterday when someone went on a shopping spree @ Rite Aid. Been waiting for it to happen for a few months now. There is another thread about this somewhere already.

AdultEUhost 07-22-2010 05:35 PM

there already has been a thread about this started by Roald, I had to replace one Visa card as well due to Phoenix, and among me about 10 others afaik.

st0ned 07-22-2010 05:39 PM

I just called the mission palms to try and find out what card I used, I was directed to some voicemail. Does anyone have a contact there?

cybermike 07-22-2010 05:46 PM

hmm I guess I need to check my statement online

TampaToker 07-22-2010 06:33 PM

Only place i used my card in Phoenix was in the lobby at the atm at The Mission Palms. Someone bought something for $179 at BestBuy in Scottsdale.

Brad Mitchell 07-22-2010 06:41 PM

Yeah I got that letter today, probably need to review the amex statements.

baddog 07-22-2010 06:41 PM

I wonder if that is why BofA changed my card again.

BAKO 07-22-2010 06:41 PM

Nothing on my card

BV 07-22-2010 06:43 PM

Used to be thieves would also buy a few porn memberships with stolen cards.

I wonder why they don't do that anymore?

They only allow pins for up to 4 digits on a personal account, so you couldn't use your birthday any longer. :thumbsup

naughtylaura 07-22-2010 07:01 PM

Same happened to me not long after staying there xx

The Porn Nerd 07-22-2010 07:21 PM

Sorry to hear that Robbie. Did the hotel compensate you with free rooms for life or something? I would get them for all they're worth.

They were able to hit epass? I was hoping not. I used my epass card at the ATM in the lobby, 1-2 cards at the lobby bar, and a card for the room.. Guess I will be checking epass statements also. :Oh crap

Frasier 07-22-2010 07:23 PM

I was hit as well. Lots of webmasters got surprises in the account about two months after phoenix forum.

Jimmy icq me, EXACT same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago :(

Robbie 07-22-2010 07:54 PM

The letter states that ALL cards were compromised that were used on property. So if you used your card at any time there...you need to get a new one. If yours hasn't been hit yet, it will be.

WebairGerard 07-22-2010 08:05 PM

Yep my mine was hit too. They hit gas stations and dropped a few hundred bucks at the liquor store before the card was locked down. Just had the card changed for a new one.

Boozer 07-22-2010 08:27 PM

Dont know if this has anything to do with anything but I recently read this on azcentral

Roald 07-22-2010 10:31 PM

Well that dosnt make US very happy ;)

If youre not staying there you really only use a card if you want to buy someone a premium drink or eat dinner... thats if you miss one of the many free layouts they have.

just going wont snag you...

tigermtb 07-22-2010 11:08 PM

Yup. My US card was recently replaced because of being compromised. Used it there.

It happened at Florida show 2-3 years back as well.

PersianKitty 07-22-2010 11:46 PM

Checked my Amex and all looks fine. Will peek at my regular BofA card, but I don't think I used it for anything at the hotel.
