How many of you still have health insurance?
Health Insurance in the US sucks my left nut and enjoys the right one at the same time!
Paying $925 per month for health insurance!!! Fuck! Just got notice , it went up! Unbelievable! Whats up with this? No wonder millions of people dont have it....how about you? |
god damn dude wtf is wrong with you that you pay 1k/mo? I pay 300 for my wife and myself
|
I have it, but it basically sucks. I have asthma so my coverage considers that a preexisting condition and won't cover anything related to it. So I have a plan, but it basically just covers catastrophic stuff and I pay for doctor visits and prescriptions out of my own pocket.

I'm paying 40$ per month ;)
|
I have it through work for $180 a month but I never use it. It's got insanely high deductibles.

I do and it's a fucking bitch....... $500+ per month (single coverage).
|
I don't have any because I pretty much never get sick and I live a very safe lifestyle. I've been to the doctor once in the past 10 years because my ear was hurting.
With that said, this post will probably jinx me. Those of you paying this much, do you actually use it? |

I checked it out some plans and it seemed like a total rip-off. The worst thing about it is even if you have it they try and get out of paying!
|
It only takes one scan, one helicopter transfer, one crazy medicine to make insurance useful. It's easy to say it's a ripoff until you need it and then you are fucked.
I have it and even though I've paid huge premiums (cobra=shit) its still been worth it. |
I have the same plan I had six or so years ago. It's only went up like $50 since I initially signed up.

i have 2 because i work in the netherlands and live in germany and pay like 150 dollar per month for the dutch one and because i have one in the netherlands the german one is free. and not to forget i get 50 dollar back each month from the goverment. |
yes of course we have it for everyone in the office
hospital visits are free here as well as doctor...but medication and dental...eye doctors etc...they all cost extra...so we cover them |
I used to but, dropped it. Then I broke my foot and found out that if you don't have insurance, you get discounts from Dr's and hospitals if you pay cash. I guess that proves to me that they jack prices up for the insurance companies.
|
go get every test done that you can think of, and get your money's worth! They wanna be jerks, you be a bigger jerk than them.
|
I pay $997 for family plan with Kaiser. Deductible is $25.
|
I got awesome coverage thanks to the wifes job :)

Without introducing politics into this thread, Obama has proposed the idea of creating lots of local health clinics. This would make healthcare easier for many, based upon convenience. In addition it would allow uninsured people an alternative to hospital emergency rooms (a huge problem), it would create some jobs in construction and health care, and finally (and this is not mentioned in the idea, but is pretty important) these clinics may become critical for all of us if some sort of pandemic flu-type virus occurs, or if there is any sort of bio-attack.
The idea that bailing out the banks, who mismanaged all of our money while lining their pockets without regulations, is somehow more important than healthcare funding, is just absurd to me. |

oh.. yeah... it doesn't. tax payers have to pay for it. how does it sustain itself financially? oh yeah... it can't. what role does convenience play in the economics of it all? it doesn't. i guess this will just all be done by rubbing the magical unicorn and waiting for money to rain from the sky as we go through a massive economic depression. |

and talking about any sort of health care reform without talking about tort reform is totally pointless. |

WHO PAYS FOR FUCKING WARS? WHO PAYS FOR CORPORATE BAILOUTS? WHO PAYS FOR NEW WEAPON TECHNOLOGIES? YOU DO - I DO - WE DO!!! Why not add healthcare to the mix - or is that one too many things for you to accept? |

A bigger issue for doctors is the costs they have to put out toward nurses. The shortage has increased their salaries dramatically over the years. Getting more nurses through school and into the marketplace would help lower health care costs a lot. As for it coming from taxpayers, that's how our government works. We don't get things a la carte. I rarely drive but still pay for roads. I don't agree with the war in Iraq yet still pay for the costs associated with it. |

really? Government can't do anything at all with any degree of efficiency. This isn't even debatable. You just elected a guy who promised he wouldn't sign a bill with Ear Marks and the first bill he signs has what.??? 6000? how many Billions? close to 50 Billion? How about this... how about we get government under control... get spending under control? Then ... we can take the billions and billions of dollars saved and do some good with it instead of trying to figure out how to raise taxes, punish success and waste money to "fix a problem" which never happens anyway and which just creates the inevitable problem of trying to throw good money after bad to "make it work" as it flounders. |
