Worst film remake of all time?
 

Talking about the upcoming remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still in the sci fi thread got me thinking. We all know Hollywood is remaking just about everything these days and more often then not the original was better but sometimes they are just amazingly bad.

What is your vote for the worst film remake ever?

I'm not sure. The Omen was a pretty bad "remake". It was pretty much the same exact movie, just with different actors. The original Omen was great, but why waste our time calling something a remake if it's the same movie just with different actors? If I'm going to watch a remake, I at least expect something to be a little different. The Omen remake was basically scene-for-scene the same.

Oh, and Prom Night was really fucking bad as well. Almost forgot about that one.

That would be why :) The British consider the first one almost a national treasure of a film. It gets shown at holidays, etc and you aren't allowed to become a citizen unless you know where 'you were only suppose to blow the bloody doors off' come from.

Original film has the first on screen BBW fan that I am aware of too btw...too bad he was Benny Hill.

I thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was absolute shit. I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, but I hated the movie. The oompa loompa's were so annoying.

rightfully so. It had so much potential, all of which was wasted on the advances of CGI.

Forgot about that one. Horrible remake. I couldn't even watch it all the way through.

I thought it was okay but not nearly as good as the classic. My sister, on the other hand, was obsessed with the original as a kid and apparently walked out of the remake because the pedo/Micheal Jackson vibe given to Wonka pissed her off..lol

Godzilla, Dawn of the dead were both good remakes, but the orginals were classics

I have to agree with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, couldnt even watch it all the way through and I idolize Johnny Depp. The Shining was another one they should have left the hell alone as well as Carrie.

They all suck compared to the original. Nothing can compare to an original.
