Shocking News.. Puppies fed to Python in Detroit!
 

Ok so just the other day a lady working at an animal control facility in Detroit was fired from her job and brought up on criminal charges for feeding puppies to a Python.

The liberal media likes to end the story right there...

Here's the rest of it:

1) The python was captured in a drug raid. It's been agitated and not eating - the suggestion was that this python only eats live food.
2) The puppies were going to be killed. They were all born prematurely in a field and it had been determined that no amount of nursing would bring them back to health as they were too severely malnourished and underweight.
3) Pretty much every animal at this place gets gassed with carbon monoxide although I had the impression this wouldn't happen to the Python. No, Spot doesn't just fall asleep like mommy and daddy would lead you to believe. He chokes and gags to a slow and painful death.
4) The other employees at the place in support of this co-worker... the employee was not a nutcase or anything.

Here's what I think:

I fucking love dogs... no, not like some of you beastie people do... but I really think dogs make great pets. And no, I couldn't imagine every killing a dog - hell, I'd probably cry if I did.

HOWEVER...

I'm not paid to work at an animal gas chamber.

All these fucking dogs were going to die anyways. Plus, nobody would be bitching if the Python was fed mice or rats. After all, isn't this just the food chain? At least the dog went to some good use as nourishment to the Python. The alternative to the dog bein crushed to death and eaten was being gassed and thrown out in a garbage bag. To me, one of those seems a bit more fruitful.

God damn flaky PETA people.

So what do you think? Should the lady have been fired? Should she be facing animal cruelty charges? Is Detroit nothing but a vast ghetto wasteland? Oh shit, did I say that... lol

An animal is an animal. I don't see the problem with it eating dogs. Why should a dog be any different than feeding it mice or something else?

Its not like they were feeding it Panda bears or something.

Animals are part of the food chain, just like we are.
I would never feed a healthy puppy to a snake or any animal for that matter...but they were going to die, in essence then served their "purpose". Its only a problem because they are cute and cuddly and some ppl treat puppies better than their own kids.
Like it was said before if these were rats..no one would care.

Havent you guys ever heard of the people who call for the "Free Kittens" in the newspaper ads that feed them to snakes?

This goes on all day everyday in every city snakes are allowed.

i used to have a python when i was younger. most pet stores would not sell me mice and gerbils and hamsters and rats when they knew i was going to feed them to my snake :(

"Free Kittens" Haha, My grandma use to have a sign free kittens.
And a vietnamese family would call and ask for them.
My mom had to finally tell her after 3-5 times of this happening what they were doing with them...
Guess who never got free kittens again?

The snake is a predator. If it found puppies and ate them on its natural pursuit of prey that is one thing.

I'm not sure that predators should be domesticated, with the exception of dogs and cats, that have domestication bred into them, you can't just take a predatory animal and make it a pet. I know that some people here, including someone with a serval, do it.

If you take on such an animal as a pet, you best be prepared to fend for it for life, since you are replacing its' natural instincts with human kindness.

As for the pups, they should have been put to sleep, they are NOT the natural prey for such an animal.

Personally, I think she should lose her job, be prosecuted for animal cruelty and do the time.

She not only interfered with the food chain, she was plainly and intently cruel to both the snake and the pups.

I mean hotdogs are just offal and anus with flavouring.. no different to the plant offal they put in notdogs.. it's all in the flavouring they use.. the sanitarium notdogs and vege sausages are great... some other brands are shit.. it's one of the only areas where meat substitutes are acutally substitutes because sausages are just flavoured crap..
most other stuff like "not bacon" and tofu products are crap. bacon substitutes might work if the person has been a vego for 15 years and has actually forgotten what it tastes like :)
other than that I dig chickpea burgers because they do all sorts of crazy spicy flavouring with them.. and nutmeat is ok. You put it in curries and it just adds peanut flavouring..

small mammals are the natural prey for large snakes.. puppies are small mammals. Snakes eat fox pups in the wild, there is no difference here. Just a double standard for cute puppies as opposed to "disgusting" rats..

She didn't interfere with the food chain. she wasn't cruel to the snake. Was it unpleasant for the sick and dying puppies? yes. So there is an issue here.. but not worthy of a fine and jail time.. more like a clarification of the law.

I'd warrant if you worked at a place that puts down cute puppies every day you'd have a desensitisation to it that allowed you to think of the greater good of the snake instead of dying puppies.

Anyone who calls this shit cruelty to animals better be a fucking vegetarian.

These animals were going to die anyway. Perhaps the last bit of their life was a bit stressful, but how is it worse than being drowned in a bucket, like is often done with unwanted kittens and puppies in rural areas?

You think that the animals they NORMALLY feed to Pythons are less worthy than a dog or a cat? Never had a pet rat I assume - they're awesome animals. They're fed to Pythons everywhere, everyday. As are mice. And I assume Gerbils and hampsters as well.

FYI: I am not a vegetarian. I eat the ugly animals, and if I had to or they were particularly yummy, I'd eat the cute ones too. I also love my cats.
