for a thumb site smarts thumbs, text site tgpx

Decadawn 12-05-2007 09:50 PM

i have many Smarthumbs installations but the BIGGEST issue with it is that you can't have daily rotations. There are disabling options but IMO it's not as good as a real daily rotation.

I'd go with TGPX or Vanilla.

the best tgp scripts arent for sale.

They are either custom, or the people that made them have mysteriously disappeared off the planet.

Not even close.

http://www.smart-scripts.com - Smart Thumbs

It's the best that is available to everyone. BP is right, the best scripts can't be bought.

ianlester 12-05-2007 10:15 PM

smart thumbs is really good.

I'm a big fan of comus thumbs. It's not as submitter friendly as Smart Thumbs but it's a top notch script.

[ScreaM] 12-05-2007 10:32 PM

Smart thumbs is good.

rayadp05 12-05-2007 10:42 PM

i use comus for my tgp site. seems to do the job very well.

just checked smart thumbs.......it is "simpler" than comus but that doesn't necessarily make it better than comus, if easy to use was used to determine how good a script is then I'd put TGP-Rotator (AG-SQL) above all since it's fool proof....:winkwink:

Simple has nothing to do with it. I've used both and smart thumbs is superior in both the layout of the admin area and features.

I already did, and besides a "simpler layout" I couldn't see anything that comus would be lacking, taking that in consideration I'd say is all about tastes......I like comus better and you like ST .... no biggie.....:thumbsup

BigBen 12-05-2007 11:50 PM

Not a big fan of tgpx. agsql was better.

Kron 12-06-2007 12:15 AM

I use comus, and work just fine for me, it is not world greatest TGP script, but for my needs is more than enough.

FireFoz 12-20-2007 05:34 PM

That would be Vanilla 2 for sure;

- Share galleries and banners on all your sites
-Multiple thumbnails- AND thumbnail-sizes per gallery
- Intergrated advertising system
- Intergrated trade system
- Advanced cropper with preloaded batch-option
- Auto page-generator with 1|2|3| etc. links for archives
- System to sell gallery- or bannerspots on your network
- Extremely advanced submitter-management system

Don't you mean best tube site script? Tubes are actually TGP 2.0, get into them as early as you can.

Make it 70% and i buy it.

Robbie 12-21-2007 10:18 AM

Hey here's a crazy thought...How about just building it and running it yourself? That's the way I've always done it. Those script built sites all look the same. Be creative and original....it'll pay off.

I know you've been very successful with TGPs but there is nothing cookie cutter about using a script to build your sites these days. It gets cookie cutter because the end users are not original enough or the designers they hire are not original enough. Most of the scripts allow for infinite levels of customization in terms of look and feel.

So true. I have yet to find a good over-the-counter TGP script that can run multiple sites on multiple servers and handle trades at the same time with a single admin panel!

I know it can be done...but why? If you are going to take the time to customize it anyway, why not just build it? I've never messed around with any of those scripts but I can tell you that every pay site that is built with a CMS is full of exploits for hackers...I know that from learning a lot over the last year about security with the paysite. Wouldn't the TGP CMS stuff have the same security issues?
And again...if a person has the creativity to make a script built TGP look different, then why not just build it? God knows I caught enough grief just for messing around with WYSIWYG's in the past.
Is it just a lack of knowledge on html?

We should put a list of side by side features, I still think Comus would come out on top.
Does it offer a searchable database?
Surfers seem to really like that.
See it here - http://sexjester.com

V1 has a plugin for it, v2 will have it by default early 2008.

Its impossible to just compare one feature against another though. You could say the advertising system in Vanilla is one feature, but it is unfair to compare that against a search feature. I am pretty sure Vanilla will come on top, but we will probably all think that of our own script ;)

u-Bob 12-21-2007 03:41 PM

tgpx imho :)
