toronto, what to do there?.......

i go to toronto on september 18 and will stay around a week there...

i don't really feel happy about it as my brother is there and says he's never been so bored in his life than since he's been sent there to work...

anyway if some people can recomend some good places to see in the day and places to hang out at night (if such places exist in toronto) i would appreciate...

cheers

mijoon 09-14-2002 07:15 AM

First thing to do when you reach Toronto is to head down the 401 to MONTREAL as fast as possible.

some_idiot 09-14-2002 07:49 AM

Check out Seductions on Kipling for some good clean
fun.:Graucho

Family style stuff... go up the CN tower, you wouldn't
believe how many of the 5 million in the GTA see it
every day and have never been up it!

You'll also find stuff to do on www.toronto.com

GTS Mark 09-14-2002 07:50 AM

Your brother should get out of the basement more often there is a shitload of stuff to do in Toronto.

Check out www.toronto.com

I think that is the first time I have heard anyone say something bad about Toronto.

Especially the words boring in the same sentence as Toronto.

5 million people, one of the largest cities in North America, clean and no crime.

Night life is like no other.

Many people have said Toronto is like a mini New York

"boring" like DH said, maybe your brother should get out of the basement and go downtown.

SABAI 09-14-2002 08:01 AM

hheheh thanks guys,
as for my bro' he might be bored coz he knows noone there...
all he's been doing is go to the film festival to kill time....

thanks for the input

Thank you.

Careful, you want the Much building on Queen at John.

The actual CHUM building is in Rosedale area on Yonge.
...too much high nose there for any real fun.

...often confused, unless you party with the radio guys,
they NEVER let you forget "who's CHUM".

You've never heard anyone say anything bad about Toronto? What? Have you ever LEFT Toronto?

And the people that say Toronto is a mini-NewYork aren't getting it right. It's Toronto THINKS it's a Mini-New York. Toronto doesn't really have anything to distinguish it. It's a city, yes. What's fantastic about it? Bah. Unless you have tickets to the Maple Leafs, there's nothing spectacular there.

That's not what we hear from the "English Speaking Montreal Residents" Maybe the French-speaking ones are just prejudice? After all, they still have many street signs in french only which is not fair at all.. at some parking lot in montreal once I couldn't even figure out how to get outta there cos me no hablo french except the word bonjour and all exit/payment instructions were in french :1orglaugh

I lived in New York some time ago and now living in Toronto.. which city do i like better? Toronto ofcourse or I wouldn't be here! Anyways, anyone's going for Lion King soon? Got coupon? Anybody else bunjee jumped from CN tower top? It's easy just ask FX :)

Maybe your talking about The Docks.

There is tons of stuff to do in Toronto but like everywhere else it takes some looking - if you like all the touristy stuff you'll find plenty of it in Toronto. Tourism is our number 1 industry.

last time i was in toronto i only had like a half day of extra time and i checked out the eaton center and whatever is around it and they got pretty much any kinda shopping you want to do. if you're from america stuff is pretty cheap too considering $20 our money converts to like $3k canadian.

Is the exchange actually that high?

The exchange is about $1.55CDN or $1.60CDN for $1 USD but the real nice thing is if you go to let's say the Gap in the states and see a shirt for $20, you'll probably see it here for $20-$25. You save. BUT we get you in taxes, so watch out for that!

I still say TO is ok, but almost everything that was suggested to date was tourist stuff.

McAttack 09-15-2002 07:48 AM

Come on guys, suggest REAL places. Good restaurants, good bars, good clubs, good titty bars.

Make some REAL suggestions if you want to sell Toronto. Poor Sabai wants to go have fun and you guys want to send him up the CN Tower so he can what, see the states across the lake on a good day? Pfft!

Sabai, last time I went to TO, I stayed mainly in the bars at night and kept it quiet. I wanted to get away for a weekend so I went there. But what I'd recommend. We went to Hemmingway's for drinks which was nice, lots of good looking women, some were local strippers and fairly friendly.

Went to the Bloor Bistro on King st for lunch which was very good foodwise.

The Hot House (Near the Hockey Hall of fame somewhere) was decent for brunch. All you can eat buffet of good brunch stuff.

We did a little bar hopping and I didn't really pay attention to the bars to be honest. We were on Queen or College. I forget. That was decent too.

If you want to do tourist stuff, you have the Second City if that's still open. It's the Canadian version of euhhh.. The Laugh Factory I think it was called in California. Most of the best comics came from there. There's Wayne Gretzky's restaurant across the street from that. There's the Hockey Hall of Fame. The waterfront is a nice place to hang out if it's nice.

seven 09-15-2002 08:06 AM

I like the titi club over at Yonge and Bloor. Had my bachelor's party there few weeks ago. For just a little money my buddies got a real cutie rub her shaved pussy in my face :Graucho

How expensive are the titty bars in TO anyways? My buddy was telling me he went to this place on King st. and it was $20 a dance, and no touching. What the hell?!?!!? In Montreal you can easily find a place that has Full Contact for $10.

Ahhh the bachelor party. The only real reason to get married cause your buddies will NEVER pay a chick to rub herself all over you otherwise. :winkwink:
