2257 deadline for submission of comments to DOJ. Am I off-base? I worry for ya's that this has the potential to hurt many GFY-ers significantly. Am I (and the other few) trying to alert ya's mis-directed, or are many here sticking their heads in the sand and "hoping" the "new/pending" 2257 regs won't cause them the MAJOR problems that I am concerned about (for ya's)? Time to stand up and be counted is almost gone. DOJ could bury you because of your silence?? Don't YOU want to help YOURSELVES???

Save a beer for me, too (I'm merely a Primary Producer, not a Secondary Producer, who DOES worry about 2257 and how it might adversely affect many GFYers who are not taking it very seriously.

Did I read someplace where someone thought that even foreign content coming into leaving America (or was it American content being licensed to non-American countries?) would also be affected?????? Anyone else recall anything about it?

Posting comments is stupid unless you want to give the DOJ a target. Hire a lawyer, which 99.9% of the people here can't afford to do. This will be hashed out in the courts. Comments won't do anything other than bring unwanted attention to you and your company.

You wants to make a difference, install a democrat president. They don't have to pander to evangelicals to hold office. Democrats hate porn as much as the rest, but it isn't their priority to keep some bible thumping congregation happy.

Sorry people on gfy are currently too busy with the torrent site and tube site bashing bandwagon. Most of the current contracts with me are for torrent and tube site bandwagons...

Fuck it. They won. As an adult "secondary producer" affiliate - they beat me into completely into submission.

I've been slowly moving out of this cursed industry into pure mainstream. By the end of this month I should be just about done with the transition. I'll continue getting residual income and renewals and referrals, but aside from that, I'm done.

First off - posting on here you are already watched by the government. You don't think they love to read webmaster boards and use the information in court against us? Not only that, everyone here brags and says what they are going to do - you mine as well call every department in the government up.

It is totally frustrating to hear webmasters not give a shit about things or feel that not doing anything is the way to go. Stating that one president (R) is all the blame is short sighted, considering that many presidents including (D) had their hands in all this too.

What you fail to see is that we are the last few groups that are being stripped away of their rights. So bury your head in the sand or let someone else in the industry handle this is a cowards way out. To say you have no money for lawyers so 'fuck you' I can't do anything - is also cowardly since you do not need to pay a lawyer to write a letter or call to speak your mind as to what the real webmasters face. Thinking if you don't speak a word and stay under the radar is helping - well - as said before - they watch these boards, so you already have spoken out and they know who you are.

Dave and those like him are no richer or poorer financially than many of you - but they have deep pockets when it comes to fighting for their rights and liberties. Remember what an American much less a human being is these days instead of slandering others on the board just to get attention. If we were to take some of the hostility and anger we often throw at one another on this board and actually focus it on the government's desire to ruin this industry and our rights - then we may just be heard.

The battle has already been won when an army starts turning in on itself and refuses to fight the real threat.

Yes I have many contracts out for the "slandering and libel just to get attention" bandwagons. Its been my bread and butter lately. :thumbsup

I might be wrong, but even if you AND YOUR BUINESS retire you will still be hassled by 2257 which requires present Primary Producers to maintain full 2257 records (complete with cross-referencings) for five years after shutting down the business --during that time, we remain subject to "inspections". My letter is an attempt to keep folks like you (Secondary Producers?) from having to do the same hassled record-keeping as now mandated for guys like me.

I'm not an attorney. You might want to consult one, though?

1) The attorney general he picks will have to be approved by the Democratic Senate, and who knows? They might actually show some backbone this time.

2) Failing to comment on regulations that adversely affect your livelihood to the point of possibly putting you out of business is what one might call a bad business plan. And if you think they don't know who you are, rest assured, if they want to know, they can find out. Besides, by commenting on the regs, if they thereafter do come after you for some reason, you've got the defense that they're harassing you for your political views. But, of course, you're reacting exactly the way they want you to react: Afraid to defend your right to do legal business because they've scared you into thinking you don't have any rights. You do -- but rights are like muscles: If you don't exercise them, they get flabby and don't work anymore.

3) Installing a Democratic president is a good idea -- and currently 17 months away (15 to the election itself). A lot can happen in that 17 months -- like you and the rest of us being put out of business. That might not fit into your business plan.

I submitted some comments...I think the big problem is the goveremnt has acted like something was going to happen, rulings were delayed, and the cycle has gone over and over so many times that people are immune to it. This has been going on for 3 yeras now.

I understand, but hope the folks who aren't taking this seriously will stand up and be counted in the next few days.

Unbelieveable how many are sitting by and chancing disaster and fianancial distress if the present DOJ proposed regs go into effect "as is" without the masses bitching via comments to DOJ TODAY.

I don't swear often, but all I can say is that the "sticking heads in sand" has been UN-Fucking-Believable.

Mike, as I understand it, you can do what I did--i.e., mailed/emailed mine directly without handing it over to FSC. Feel free to do so if you agree that any info DOJ/FBI wanted on us is already available to them, possibly even your comment and mine in this thread!

I'd hate to think that later Secondary Producer hassles might have possibly been lightened/eliminated/etc had I only spoken up by the end of the dealine on 9-10-07.

I Have no choice but try to defend GFY Secondary Producers--it's the right thing to do, just like me being a plaintiff for the 2005 FSC's TRO which kept Secondary Producers from ALREADY being subject to complying in the same hassling way as us Primary Producers already are burdened with. Unlike some, I recognize and appreciate what FSC did 2+ years ago on behalf of many of us:-))

I'm worried, Tiger, that only a very few fine folks like you submitted. FSC needed MANY of us to submit comments, and they provided excellent assistance to facilitate our participation, yet many would rather do nothing?

Now, if DOJ hassles Secondary Producers in the future, ya's have only yourselves to blame---it's not the fault of FSC that you sat on your hands, and ignored those of us CONSTANTLY trying to bring it to your attention these past 3-4 weeks:-(((.
