"Panasonic HVX 200 and the Sony Z1U Discuss .... "

You need a real hd cam like a jvc hd110u.
If your a cameraman, you'll appreciate the HUGE difference with all 3 cameras.

nuff said.

When I show up to film and I see someone with a Panasonic HVX 200 or a Canon GL2, the first thing I think is "amateur".

Sorry, that's just 14 years of working with Arri as a profession.

Forgot to mention, Miami CSI is filmed with an HD110u.
Starting cost is around $6k for body... BHPhoto has some good ones, give Herman a call and ask if he has any refurbs.

Jennings 08-22-2007 07:08 PM

forum screwing up .

I have to disagree ,the hvx200 is actually more of a pro camera than the jvc.

tony286 08-22-2007 08:24 PM

also Clint Eastwood used Sony Z1s and HVX200s for some beach-landing shots in Letters From Iwo Jima.
NBC TV series "Friday Night Lights", primarily shot on Super16, is using the HVX in SD and HD modes for "video" scenes and other b-roll.
The #1 highest-rated show on PBS, "America's Test Kitchen" uses five HVX200's shooting DVCPRO50, and recording to FireStore FS-100s.
I could go on.

BTW I've shot quite a few films (adult and mainstream tv) with this camera in both SD and HD settings ... I gotta say as a SD camera this one rocks! Way better in low light then sony

I'm still itching to try the Canon XH1A

I have thousands of Hi8 tapes :Oh crap

If your looking for any Arri prime lenses I have a few for sale.
Also, have a panasonic HDX900 including rain bag.

Have a 900 (Do you own it?), but very bulky.

I don't shoot infomercials, I film concerts.
Also my HD library will be being sold by Digital Juice, so if you need some good stuff 1080p (Yes progressive) let me know.

What sled you using, that looks like a glide cam hookup?

Heres some POM for you, sound was straight off camera with no mixing, used as a ref point for mixer later, cam atop a panther crane, 4 cam shoot for MTV:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=23V2IWPpHbI

14 years, over 500 national acts filmed.

That picture of the 900 was taken during the very first Sony 900 workshop ... After this workshop I would be hired by rental companies to train film DOPs and they're assitants for the switch to HD (mostly Made for TV films/series ) And umm No I don't own it .. when that camera came out it was in the high 120 000 $

First your jvc doesnt shoot 1080 the hvx200 does, your more pro than clint eastwood I think not. Your this big shot what are you doing here? Got thrown out of mainstream?

Tony, just quit now, you are all over dvxuser asking questions any newb videographer SHOULD know.

Should I list it all here?

"First your jvc doesnt shoot 1080 the hvx200 does"

I own multiple cameras.
Secondly cameras don't "shoot" 1080i, they output to that.
Shouldn't you know that?
Output is 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p

And as far as the jvchd110u and 1080i:
http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/f...l_id=MDL101642

"your more pro than clint eastwood I think not."

Yes, as a camera operator I am. Clint Eastwood was the producer, NOT the production company. You do know what a producer is correct?

"Your this big shot what are you doing here? Got thrown out of mainstream?"

No, just saw another pro on the board.

Please go back to dvxuser now and learn, your embarassing yourself.

Thanks.

Please post them all please there aren't that many. Also I do go there and ask questions, no shame and better than trying to come off as a know it all. Clint Eastwood was the director Mr Professional.
The man showed us his cameras and you come off like a know it all. Very sad.

tony286 08-22-2007 10:30 PM

The way your acting truly shows how sad you are ,very professional.

Good place to start learning about your camera mr "starving artist"
BTW, directors don't choose the cameras. The Cinematographer does.

BTW, here are the cameras he used to film that movie:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0498380/technical

Arriflex 235, C and E-Series Anamorphic Lenses
Panavision Cameras, C and E-Series Anamorphic Lenses
Sony HVR-Z1U

HMMM no panasonic anywhere in there...

Why is it you've been wrong so far about everything you've posted yet you still keep going?

Being a professional means I'm not going to let you make totaly uneducated statements about cameras in this thread. If you don't know, don't say.

Jennings 08-22-2007 10:39 PM

I'll be making coffee and watching a movie if you want to keep going.

You said the Z1 was amatuer ? Clint has nothing to do with the choices? I read they also used the hvx200 but I guess I was wrong but not about the Z1
